Boyhood – Thailand [Music Video]

Boyhood – Thailand [Music Video] Ottawa's Boyhood just dropped their another music video which is Thailand . The single is taken from "When I'm Hungry". Music video directed by Travis Boisvenue . I actually like this one since it has more of a story and crazyness. You can see Pierre of Bruised Tongue literally causing trouble. (Once you see the ending) Have a look! Thailand by boyhood

Girls Aloud have officially split up!

Girls Aloud have officially split up! We just woke up to sad sad news. After finishing the tour, which we got tickets for but opted to go to Koh Samui, Thailand instead, the girls called it quits after a decade of being together. Yes, no more Girls Aloud. "Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!!" it read. "This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade. It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we [...]

Thailand seriously does not want you fucking with their king

Thailand seriously does not want you fucking with their king Thailand is really outdoing itself on jailing people for insulting the king, which is apparently something of a national pastime. This week Somyot Pruksakasemsuk was given a 10-year sentence for two articles that he did not write, neither of which even mentioned the king. Mr. Somyot was the editor of The Voice of Taksin magazine, which published two articles—both works of fiction, neither of which mentioned the king or the royal family by name, but which appeared to criticize the royal family by way of metaphor, if the reader chose to interpret it that way. [...]

Beautiful White People Fighting for Their Lives in Paradise? That's "The Impossible"

Beautiful White People Fighting for Their Lives in Paradise? That's "The Impossible" I promised myself I wouldn't spend Boxing Day 2012 watching a movie about a deadly real-life disaster that happened on Boxing Day eight years ago, set in Thailand, the country I've called home for much of 2011 and 2012. But it was either The Impossible or The Hobbit , and as anyone who knows me also knows, I don't do Renaissance faire/Dungeons & Dragons adventure fantasies, or whatever you want to call The Lord of the Rings and all of its current and future offshoots (none of which I've ever seen or plan to ever [...]

NEW OFFICIAL VIDEO: U Brown & Jr Eric – Tu Shung Peng 2012 REMAKE

Jr Eric & U Brown - Reggae Music Worldwide (Tu Shung Peng) Partillo Productions -- [OFFICIAL VIDEO]
Brand new remake of the classic "Tu Shung Peng" with the late great Swedish rub-a-dub king  Junior Eric featuring the Jamaican living legend U Brown .  Music by Partillo Productions. Buy on Itunes Jr Eric was ruling the small but very active reggae/rub-a-dub community in Sweden for years, but was sadly injured and later passed away as a result of a motorcycle accident in Thailand in 2009, were he had just established a reggae club/restaurant. He had a few years [...]

10 Things I've Learned in Bali (So Far)

10 Things I've Learned in Bali (So Far) 1. A true-blue Taurus, I'll always be something of a slave to luxury. But as posh accommodations go, I officially prefer rustic charm to sleek modernity, and I'm willing to shower outside in order to get it. 2. Mountains or beach? Unless there are tall land masses looming majestically and dramatically in the background, if you've seen one beach, I'm afraid you've sort of seen them all. Start climbing! 3. That said, if you must stay in tourist-heavy Kuta, Legian or Seminyak while in [...]

My 6 First Impressions of Bali

My 6 First Impressions of Bali The view from my fourth-floor balcony at the Haven -- aiming away from the pool 1. Cool! I've landed in airports down by the water before, but I can't remember another time when I've had such a clear view of it taxiing down the runway to the gate. The only thing missing is a dramatic mountain range in the background, but those rolling hills will do. Expectations: High! 2. I was worried that people in Bali wouldn't be as nice as they are in Thailand, but my concerns are proving [...]

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs! At first I was going to post something political in honor of Election Day, but I've reconsidered. Haven't we already said enough? If I read one more piece of political posturing (including mine) on Facebook, I think my head might explode. It's time to shut up and let the U.S. electorate decide. (Obama! Obama!) So in a counterprogramming twist, I decided to post some pictures my friend Sam took on his smart phone two weeks ago of me posing on Silom Road in Bangkok with the new dark meat. [...]

Sex Sells -- Just Don't Try Selling It Here!

Sex Sells -- Just Don't Try Selling It Here! In most countries some don'ts are a given. Don't kill. Don't steal. Don't bear false witness or bad mouth the government, the king, or the queen. And whatever you do, don't sell yourself to the highest bidder in commercial spaces! In most of the major tourist traps of Thailand, though, it seems anything goes -- especially love for sale! In Chang Bar, a straight watering hole in Krabi's Centre Point entertainment complex, however, the limits of sexual liberation were firmly set: "No Prostitute in the bar"! I don't know where the proprietors stood on government [...]

Alone Again, Naturally, in Krabi, Thailand

Alone Again, Naturally, in Krabi, Thailand One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do. It takes two to make a thing go right. Yeah yeah, I've heard it all before in song. But consider this twist on the fear of being alone: Sometimes it's better to travel solo. I've been doing it more often than not for 20 years, and my treks for one have resulted in some of the best experiences of my life. I have a handful of friends with whom I travel well, but you know what they say about going on trips [...]

Botany and Love: In Search of a Constant Gardener Who Looks Hot in an Apron

Botany and Love: In Search of a Constant Gardener Who Looks Hot in an Apron Considering the chronically crappy state of my love life -- what exists of it, anyway -- it's a wonder that anyone gives a damn what I have to say about love. It's a wonder that I still have anything to say at all. I'm told that I actually give very sound romantic advice. Why it doesn't seem to work for me will continue to be one of the great mysteries of my life. Perhaps it's a simple case of do as I say, not as I do: I can dish it out (the good advice), but I can't take it. [...]

African Vs. American, Black Or White: What Difference Does It Make in Thailand?

African Vs. American, Black Or White: What Difference Does It Make in Thailand? I wasn't going to say anything, but then yesterday I found myself talking to Ben, a guy who is a guest at the hotel where I live, and it all came flooding out, everything about that odd question I was asked last week. As for the guy who got it out of me, Ben is 32 years old, and he spent the first 18 years of his life in Zimbabwe. Being a white guy who lived half of his life among a predominantly black population (his first language was Afrikaans, his second Swahili, and his third English, [...]

Trouble with My Last Name: Oh, to Be One of the Joneses!

Trouble with My Last Name: Oh, to Be One of the Joneses! As if I didn't have enough problems. It was already tough growing up chubby, black and with a funny West Indian accent in redneck country in the middle of Florida. Why did I have to be saddled with such a strange last name, too? Though I've since come to terms with it, learned to love it even, I wasn't always so thrilled with my surname. At one point, it was at the top of my list of things I'd change about myself given the opportunity. Doesn't Jeremy Jones have a nice ring? I often wondered. Alliteration rules! [...]

The Art of Faking It in Public

The Art of Faking It in Public My best friend worries about me. "I'm fine, happy," I assured her when she stated her case during her recent visit to Bangkok. Of that, she had no doubt. She said I did seem calmer, more at peace, you know, kind of happy -- but she was still concerned. She knows I've always been a lone ranger. She's become accustomed to it over a decade and a half of knowing me. But she could tell that my proclivity to solitariness had intensified since the last time we'd seen each other two years earlier. [...]

From a Soldier in Thailand, to His Girl Back Home (Exploring My Reel-to-Reel Catacombs, Volume 31) (MP3's)

Somewhere in my collecting travels, this reel came into my collection. On it, the recipient of (what I'm sure were) countless audio letters from her sweetheart, collected four of them, splicing what were originally three inch reels back to back onto a seven inch reel.  The sender, as the tapes makes clear, was at the time a soldier stationed in Thailand. The month was June, and the days of the week mentioned (i.e. Saturday, June 19th) would indicate that the year was either 1965 or 1971 (assuming as I do that the tapes were made during the '60's [...]

The Six Pack That Changed the Course of My Life

The Six Pack That Changed the Course of My Life One year, five nights, and countless adventure ago, my friend Jeremy (yes, another one) showed up at my place in Melbourne with a six-pack and a smile. I had no idea how life-altering his visit would turn out to be. By the time we'd made it through the second round, I'd booked a round-trip flight to Bangkok, with a departure date of July 3, 10 days later. By the time Jeremy went home, I had a hotel reservation, too. To be honest, it wasn't a completely out-of-the-blue development. I'd been toying with the idea of [...]

Dirty Cash, Crooked Cops: The Buenos Aires Police Strikes Again!

Dirty Cash, Crooked Cops: The Buenos Aires Police Strikes Again! I've heard the stories. The ones about illegal bribes and lucrative back-room deals. When in Buenos Aires, it wasn't just the criminals that you had to look out for, but the cops, too. Crooked ones, the sort that would feature prominently in the occasional episode of Law & Order but were crawling all over the BAPD. For them, crime pays indeed. Call it naivete or just plain old cluelessness, but I was never 100 percent certain about the veracity of the claims. Now I know that sometimes you should believe everything you hear. [...]

Pazes - 'Rogue States' feat. Biblo

Pazes - 'Rogue States' feat. Biblo Earlier this month Michigant put out its second volume to their, Michigant Tapes , series. Its a really well put together 16 track compilation that contains some fine-tuned electronic seeking beats. It's beachy, poppy, lo-fi, and perfect for the summer. The 14th number is brought by former Basilian Red Bull Music Academy participant, Pazes . He worked with previously blogged about Biblo , to curate a celestial healing mantra that leaves a grey trail of frustration and remorse. The phasing rhythm speaks like the eerie wind of the [...]
