top of the evening! hope everyone had just the most loveliest of weeks. shit, i know i did! or maybe not really, or it was fine, or just there. i havent decided. i did learn today that i have a sinus infection and a deviated septum. yay for genetics! dont think i have brought this up, but i have not been able to hear for the past month. well, i can hear, but its very muffled. so, being the proactive person i am, i went out and spent about 30 bucks on shit that would, if worked as advertised, unclog [...]

$1 well spent. Pardon the cracks n pops. Ashley Beedle - The Sleaze Track | Mediafire | YSI | 320 kbps

flyer stolen from vintage richmond top of the day! that flyer is not this show, but from the time period. dont have much time as i actually have "work" to do, but i had a request for this superchunk show which took place on 2.11.92 at the whisky a go go. this performance was actually them opening up for hole. that would have been an interesting crowd. buy superchunk stuff via merge . 1. skip steps 1 & 3 2. [...]
Garbage returns! You guys, everyone might talk about this band and how brilliant their debut album was/is (it was/is), but let's not even try to forget how masterful "Version 2.0" was/is, even by the debut's standards. Miss you, 1998. Godspeed!

here we meet again. so, mr mangum is doin some dates. not many dates, mind you, but enough to get some really smart people to spend their hard earned cash to travel to these dates. maybe its just me, and it just may be, but i was a huge, huge, huge fan of neutral milk hotel in my 202s, but now that im on the wrong side of 35, they/he just doesnt ring the same bell as they used to. sure, its still great stuff, but it just doesnt speak to me the way it used to. this time 10 [...]

Bobby Albert - Serving Hub City Rock from 1981-2012 Nobody knows the answer Why Bobby Albert Jr would one day wake-up on a cold January and decide The Court Tavern (124 Church St) would close it's doors forever. Maybe he got an offer he could not refuse - but I doubt it. Maybe the burden of a looming $60 thousand dollar bar license was just too huge an amount of hard swet and pride he was not willing to cough up one more time. The hole was just to big so he folded his hand. [...]

a lot of sites have "gone black" today in opposition to sopa, which if dont know what i am talking about that video down there breaks it down very well. i thought about not posting, but why censor myself, when others are trying to do the same thing. if anything, i think some folks should be posting more, maybe pushing some limits. these limits not being in an "illegal" fashion, but something outside the norm. im probably talkin out of my ass, as per usual. but, after watching that video, you'll understand in what a super grey area my site [...]

hey, howdy, hi! in case y'all were wondering, yes, i am still watching parking wars. this thing has me sucked in like nothing else. i blame it on this massive head cold i am suffering through for my lack of better judgment or, to be honest, my taste in tv shows/movies arent really on par with my taste in music. anyway, here is exactly what the title suggests. got a request for this to be re-upped, and here it is.... thanks to the original taper.... the [...]
See Ye during his formative tween years.

top of the day! on day two of my parking wars obsession. first it started with storage wars, and ran through those 19 episodes in a day, and then i found this crazy ass show. as a person who has gotten the boot before, i take full responsibility for my, or actually my wifes actions. of course we had like some 600 bucks in unpaid tickets, but damn, philly gives people 3 tickets and then the boot? crazy! anywho, this matthew sweet boot commonly referred to as shape [...]

[Photos by Ken Grand-Pierre. See his Flickr stream here ] As acts from the early 90s have continued to take victory laps over the past few years, I have had a chance to reflect on how different the personalities were that dominated the music scene then than those from today's self-affirming generation making vital new music today. In an era principally concerned with authenticity, its troubadours were often people who lived hard and felt deeply - addicts, romantics, and the generally self-destructive. And if you wanted a picture of the archetypal musician of the era, you might consider [...]

top of the sunday morning, y'all! today is really a bummer, i must admit. my football season is over. of course my bears were never really a factor, well they were until cutler got hurt, but now that the saints lost, its done. sure, ill still watch the games, but my give a shit level is pretty low. much credit to the niners, man. never thought they had a chance, but as per usual what the hell do i know? oh, and couch by couchwest is starting back up shortly. there has been a facebook fan [...]

Renegade Soundwave - Biting My Nails (1990 Remix) ( mp3 )

Yo u'd think a Brian Eno/John Cale collaboration would've ended up on the right side of the supergroup train(wreck)tracks. Yet their full-length collaboration Wrong Way Up is a dreadfully bland stab at pop that rightfully was not very popular. The '80s weren't really either of their decades, so I suppose they deserve a pass. On the bright side, it yielded this track, which hits the sweet spot of minimal beauty. It almost seems to float. A nice soft [...]
Diplo and Laidback Luke - Hey! (L-Vis 1990 Remix) massivetunez.blogspot.com Drum & Bass, Breakbeat, Dubstep, Fidget, Electro, Garage, UK Funky, Bassline, Black Music, House, Glitch, Grime, Progressive...czyli wszystko co najlepsze na jednym blogu

Frente!, trailblazers in annoyingly punctuated band names, were best known for their beautiful, fragile cover of New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle", and had a lot of chart success in their native Australia and indie success in the US with the album that followed up that single, Marvin The Album . But as much as I loved that cover, the full album was unimpressive, a product of thinking too much in a fancy studio. Instead, seek out the Labour Of Love EP. It features both the hit New Order cover and the song "Labour of Love", but instead [...]

i seriously have zero to do today, and it feels good. one kid is addicted to minecraft, and the other one is delving into episodes of "dragon tales" cause she needs to catch up. so, thats leaving me with not much to do but spend time on the damn computer. sure, there is other stuff i could be doing, but the other stuff is kinda lame. in 1998, jolene's in the gloaming ruled my world. i have zero idea how they came into my view, but im [...]

One of my college roommates introduced me to Luna . Our copy of Bewitched was worn out in a matter of months. From there it was on to Penthouse and eventually I went all the way back to Galaxie 500 . This was the start of a beautiful friendship with the music of Dean Wareham. Been trying to get my hands on a decent live Luna show to share here, preferably one which includes "23 Minutes in Brussels" [...]

Stumbled across these recently. The Breeders' Last Splash demos are presented here. The Breeders will always remind me of high school and like lots of people in '93-'94, "Cannonball" was the cornerstone of any respectable mixtape. Thankfully the Kim Deal connection is how I learned about The Pixies , which is how I learned about a lot of things. Funny how shit works like that sometimes. Anyway, there's plenty of good stuff here. Enjoy. [...]

Part two of the Jeff Tweedy solo show from Harper College in 1999. Part one is here . Some great stuff. "Hoodoo Voodoo" as played here is as good as any other version I've ever heard. The "Red Eyed Blue/I Got You" is another highlight. Enjoy. Via Chicago Hoodoo Voodoo Pecan Pie Red Eyed Blue/I Got You Christ For President [...]
