New Desert Blues continue to shine in telling introspective and dour tall tales on official debut single “Adam”. The video features a man suffering from a Tyler Durdern-esque identity crisis, and if you know this band’s music at all, a happy ending does not seem likely. The mountainous setting fits in perfectly with the band’s ongoing fascination with the American west. The first song from the group to officially not have a “demo” tag attached, this noir-americana work shows that even band from the UK can tell stories of patriot outlaws better than those of the native land/
New Desert Blues continue to win the West with their video for "Adam." The piece fits the band's bleak alt-folk just nicely, featuring a man suffering from a fatal case of mistaken identity in the middle of the desert. Watch it above and study up on these UK up-and-comers. STREAM: New Desert Blues - "Adam"
It's a pretty PC world we live in. Sexism, racism and homophobia are all serious no-nos while seemingly common. Mental health issues are really the last taboo, and while on paper if you asked someone how they felt about such issues, you would get a muted, understanding response. The proof of the pudding really is when such issues affect a celebrity. Britney Spears shaves her head and goes through a messy divorce, Mariah Carey has a Twitter meltdown and the press have a field day, mocking and catcalling. One of the most press-maligned pop stars of the past [...]

This year's Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival will take place in a variety of Belfast venues next month; and over eleven days, the 14th CQAF will stage music, comedy, spoken word and visual arts. We're going to focus on the festival's musical elements, and with the bill boasting old favourties such as Dexys and Adam Ant as well as a truly eclectic mix young and unknown talent, there should be something for anyone who finds themselves at the festival. There's even a guy covering Nick Cave if you fancy it. Thursday, 2nd May [...]

by Bill Pearis Adam Ant @ Best Buy Theater, December 2012 ( more by Dana [distortion] Yavin ) Adam Ant released his first album in 18 years in January, titled Adam Ant is the Blueblack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner's Daughter . The double album is probably not what anyone expected, much of it very low-fi and definitely weird. Jumping from style to style, and featuring contributions from former Ant Marco Pirroni and Morrissey guitarist Boz Boorer , it's a [...]

Its artwork an oddly phallic empty swimming pool, there's a sense that Auckland trio Popstrangers spunked their proverbial ton on Antipodes , their début full-length. It's a plucky effort – as gloopy at times (In Some Ways) as it is gritty at others (404) – though above all, it reeks of personal exertion and human effort. In fact it does so in a way that few other records nowadays do and although its languid climax, Occasion, may be as slack as Codeine's Frigid Stars it's A, as opposed to "D for effort" as far as [...]

The retro-rocking quintet of Adam & Dave's Bloodline punctuate the release of their new EP 2x2 on Founding Fathers Records tonight at Johnny Brenda's. With 2x2 , the group is taking a slightly darker heavy psychedelic approach. The groove is still omnipresent, but the guitar work is more mercurial and effect-infused. The air appears to have thickened while the lights have dimmed. The band's sound will mesh well with the hazy garage rock of St. James & the Apostles , balancing Jamie Mahon's growling preacher vocals and raw guitar with the not so common [...]
Leagues combines the talents of three Nashville rock scene veterans. The group, comprised of Thad Cockrell, Tyler Burkum and Jeremy Lutito, recently released an EP of jangly pop rock. They've opened for the likes of The Fray and Matt Kearny, but they’re headlining their own shows as they tour the country for the next month. Tonight’s ... Continue reading
Fresh on their victory at the Toto Funds The Arts Awards , Chennai indie-rock act Adam And The Fish-Eyed Poets released their first music video recently. 'Rise-Upping', off their 2012 release Songs From An Island , speaks of the hideousness of the rat race and the corporate routine, and the video satirizes just that. The video for 'Rise-Upping' is by no means subtle, it's right in your face wearing a trollface mask. Navin Muralee, the protagonist of this monochromatic piece, sees his life reflected in the eyes of [...]
