The Aggrolites Old Man Markley Brothers Of Brazil Street Dogs Appearing at The Bottleneck (Lawrence, KS) on Tuesday, May 22, 2012

This past weekend I went out to visit a friend in Portland, OR. Being known for a great music scene I was excited for my first show. The Aggrolites were in town and are playing the Hawthorne Theatre. The California quintet comprised of Alex McKenzie (drums), Roger Rivas (piano, organ), Jesse Wagner (vocals, lead guitar), and Jeff Roffredo (bass) came out to the protest song "We Shall Overcome" all dressed in black button up shirts with smiles on their faces ready play the stoked crowd. Scanning the room you could see their fan base ranged from [...]

In a new interview , self-described "dirty-reggae" outfit The Aggrolites talk a little about their plans for a follow up to 2011's Rugged Road and also talk about their departure from their longtime home on Hellcat Records . He explained: Hellcat was awesome -- we still love the Hellcat family and always will, They were very good to us. (But) we always knew how crucial it was for us to release 45s, especially being an early reggae-soul-influenced band. Young Cub offered that to us and it was a great experience working with [...]
THE AGGROLITES Rugged Road Young Cub Records Sure, the Aggrolites have recently been Tim Armstrong's backing band. The Aggrolites have played the fucking Warped Tour, repeatedly . I would never even have given this band the time of day had they not sent us a really beautiful red vinyl 12". And that would have been a shame, because during those moments when I've had a glass of scotch and am at my most receptive, I feel like Rugged Road by the Aggrolites is the finest modern piece [...]

Win Tix - Slightly Stoopid w/ The Aggrolites @ The Fox Theater - Pomona, CA - 01/14/12 From what I have been able to gather, Slightly Stoopid puts on an incredible live show. These guys have played with the likes of 311, Cypress Hill and Pepper - just to name a few. Slightly Stoopid has a cool, smooth sound that just makes you want to jam out. If I had to compare these guys to another band, I would def have to say Sublime. I am also willing to bet that the [...]

L.A. reggae band the Aggrolites have been slogging it out Studio One style since the early 2000s, most recently releasing their Rugged Road on Boston label Young Cub. Hot in pursuit of the question of just how a man comes to play reggae in Southern California anyway, we called Jesse Wagner for a few minutes diagnosis. They'll play New Year's Eve at Alex's in Long Beach. This interview by Ron Garmon. Have you ever had a NYE you haven't worked as a musician? That's funny because I was just talking about [...]

Thursday things: ► Part 1 of FMLY Fest — two days of music and communing thrown by the L.A. branch of the eco-conscious collective — goes off at Catnap (1726 N. Spring St. in Chinatown). We posted on the preview mixtape earlier this month . LA Weekly gives you an idea . [Set times after the jump.] ► Fishbone and [...]

A quiet but not totally silent night on the club scene: ► The Aggrolites bring their dirty reggae to Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach. The 17th annual Vans Warped Tour stormed through southern California earlier this month for two of its 41 national dates, highlighted by performances from perennial Warped standouts Against Me! , "dirty reggae" rockers the Aggrolites , punk veterans Fear , roots-punkers Lucero and rejuvenated O.C. power-poppers Hellogoodbye . Here is a gallery of some of the action — Warped returns to SoCal on Aug. 10 at Cal State Dominguez Hills ( full lineup here ). Concert photography by Scott Dudelson

The weather couldn't have been more perfect this Fourth of July weekend in Ventura. Arguably the best stop on the summer outting, the temperature never rose above 78 degrees. Attendance seemed as high as ever for the long running tour. Highlights of the day included Enter Shikari, Larry and his Flask, Lucero, Bad Rabbits, Sharks Street Dogs, The Aggrolites, 3oh!3, and Against Me. Photos from July 3, 2011 by Carlton Beener. Ah, the Warped Tour. One of the last remaining bastions of a punk-rock tour in the U.S. Even though I've never heard of most of the bands that are playing the festival this year and the tour tends to cater to a much younger crowd (i.e. 12-16 years old, it seems), Warped is still an American institution that should be attended at least once. That being said, the main acts for this, the 17th annual Warped Tour, include the following bands: 3OH!3, A Day To Remember, The Devil Wears Prada, Against Me!, August Burns Red, [...]
