Montreal's Osheaga Music Festival has added a number of acts to its 2012 lineup, including The Jesus and Mary Chain, Common, Santigold, Poliça, LP, Buraka Som Sistema, Wolfgang Gartner, Knife Party, The Airborne Toxic Event, and The Aggrolites. These latest additions join previously announced acts like The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg, Sigur Rós, Justice, MGMT, Florence and the Machine, The Weeknd, Bloc Party, M83, Franz Ferdinand, Metric, and Garbage. This past weekend I went out to visit a friend in Portland, OR. Being known for a great music scene I was excited for my first show. The Aggrolites were in town and are playing the Hawthorne Theatre. The California quintet comprised of Alex McKenzie (drums), Roger Rivas (piano, organ), Jesse Wagner (vocals, lead guitar), and Jeff Roffredo (bass) came out to the protest song "We Shall Overcome" all dressed in black button up shirts with smiles on their faces ready play the stoked crowd. A quiet but not totally silent night on the club scene: ► The Aggrolites bring their dirty reggae to Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach. Brothers of Brazil have some tour dates lined up for September, including a handful of shows with The Aggrolites and Peelander-Z . Check out the dates below. The band released their eponymous debut last month via Side One Dummy Records .

The 17th annual Vans Warped Tour stormed through southern California earlier this month for two of its 41 national dates, highlighted by performances from perennial Warped standouts Against Me! , "dirty reggae" rockers the Aggrolites , punk veterans Fear , roots-punkers Lucero and rejuvenated O.C. power-poppers Hellogoodbye . The weather couldn't have been more perfect this Fourth of July weekend in Ventura. Arguably the best stop on the summer outting, the temperature never rose above 78 degrees. Attendance seemed as high as ever for the long running tour. Ah, the Warped Tour. One of the last remaining bastions of a punk-rock tour in the U.S. Even though I've never heard of most of the bands that are playing the festival this year and the tour tends to cater to a much younger crowd (i.e. 12-16 years old, it seems), Warped is still an American institution that should be attended at least once.
