This is one hell of a mix, full of the dopest underground Hip Hop outta the 90s, featuring the likes of Afu Ra, Crooklyn Dodgers and Alps Cru. It's a real nice collab between two friends outta Bradford, involved with Sinoptic Music (hence the West Yorkshire logo). Hashfinger, who is no stranger to Word Is Bond , mixed the records which were provided by Major Kuts. Together, they are The Stone Cutters. It clocks in at 1hr49 so beware not to snap your neck, cos these boom bap beats are dangerous. I look forward to further offerings by this [...]

Sic Alps recently unleashed this minute-long acid trip for the Breadhead B-side, "1/2 Rabbit Sandwich with Fries." The 73 is out now on Drag City . (via Raven Sings the Blues ) Wooden Shjips ' new Patrick Whalen -directed video for "Crossing" captures the band performing live from what feels like a thousand different angles. It's the latest clip for a song from the band's West LP. Related Posts: [...]

I think everyone is licking fingers and in countdown to new Thee Oh Sees album that by the samplers that came out promises to be the BOMB ... In the meantime Thee Oh Sees John Dwyer's and Sic Alps Mike Donovan teamed up to make this smashing duet of trash garage noisy psychedelic ear piercing awesomeness ... ... Listen | Yikes - The Cars
Sic Alps have captured a fair amount of our attention this year with an undeniable album and two equally captivating follow-up singles. Napa Asylum has seen its fair share of video accompaniment so far but now the band tackles the track "1/2 Rabbit Sandwich with Fries" from the Breadhead 7" and the clip flies by in a flurry of blinking, bedraggled imagery that seems to sum up the track's shambolic qualities quite nicely. If you're on the West Coast the band has shows coming up in Pomona and LA, the latter of which [...]

Alps Cru - Pitstop Alps Cru - The Concept Alps Cru - Pick Up The Crossfader Aight I posted a while back news of Alps Cru's new EP, without really explaining who they are. Well this is why I'm so... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]
In the months following the break-up of Supergrass, bassist Mick Quinn with Paul Wilson and Mikey Dean-Smith formed dB band. Fronted by Quinn under the pseudonym of 'Barry McQueen', the trio have just released their debut EP, Stranger In The Alps. dB Band's sound elicits memories of Supergrass's earlier, harder edged and punkier songs with a touch of catchy [...]
Sic Alps is in flux. What does a band do when it's in flux? Put out as many awesome 73 on Drag City as possible it seems. "Breadhead" was a fuzzed out melodic winner, and now "Battery Townsley" roars on to the scene with a similar sort of acoustic noise backing it. I can't say [...]

Temporary Residence Limited , the label home to post-rock and prog household names like Explosions in the Sky, Three Mile Pilot and more, have new albums coming out from two bands out of San Francisco: The Drift and Moholy-Nagy. The Drift - "Horizon" The Drift release Blue Hour on October 4, and will be touring Europe supporting Explosions in the Sky in November. A little about the band, and their new full-length from TRL: It's been a long, very [...]

This week may not be the powerhouse release of the season like last week. But you can't have those twice in the same season... it's just math. All that being said, there is a lot of great stuff out today. For example, local heroes Andrew Jackson Jihad have an album about knife men out so that is pretty cool. In addition to that wonderful (probably) album , as you can see below, there are a ton of other good ones too. Just take your time and look at all of them... with your ears. Then I want [...]

We've had the honor to showcase some of New South Wales, Australia's Chris Hearn's splendid work as Alps earlier this year in February and so we're now more than delighted to hear the news that the lo-fi garage wiz has hooked up with Shawn Reed and his Iowa City-based yet curiously down under-affectionate imprint Night-People . Alps' self-titled C-30 tape will be dropped sometime soon (once Reed's own Wet Hair have returned from their tour through Australia), and until then you may enjoy the first track "Stay Gold" both visually [...]
Get away from it all this coming festive season at alpine-based New Zealand festival....

What's more, the band (Sic Alps, not The Wailers) also has the Battery Townsley 73 coming on September 20th. Check out the band's latest "Tour Phone" tour doc video below: Related Posts: [...]
