Like any other social media platform, Instagram can be stupid. This weekend marks the inaugural run for Atlanta's brand new Shaky Knees Festival , and I'm stoked to be there to experience it! The two day festival will be held in a newly completed park next to a prominent Atlanta music venue, The Masquerade . The schedule and lineup is a bit light compared to other festival heavy-hitters ( Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, Hangout ), but for a first year festival, the lineup is pretty amazing. Not since the turn of the millennium has it stood for its true meaning of independent, its reputation instead sullied by the disreputable nonsenses of the exclusively British likes of Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Courteeners etc. ad infinitum. Last year the skewed-pop group Parenthetical Girls released the airy single Curtains, registering as what the Cars' "Who's Gonna Take You Home" was produced by Brian Eno. Fellow off-kilter beauty merchants the Antlers got their hands on it for a remix, and their slightly more populist streak shines in this version, which wrangles the female vocal from the original's final minute and builds it into the track's lead.
