Creating a music video, in my opinion, should be about creating art. There are so many intricate elements that should go into a video that are so often left forgotten or, at least, unattended. First and foremost is the song itself - a video must compliment the art to which it is expanding from audio to video. Connecting the two is extremely important. Second is theme. The best videos have some storyline, vague or distinct. Or at least something visually interesting. What started below [...]

The Apples in stereo launched the Fall leg of their 2010 Travellers in Space and Time tour this weekend, ending (starting) with two shows in Colorado. The next few weeks will see the Apples in many venues throughout the West, before a final pair of shows in the UK: 10-22 Denver, CO – The Bluebird Theater 10-23 Colorado Springs, CO – Armstrong Hall 10-24 Salt Lake City, UT – The State Room 10-25 Boise, ID – Neurolux 10-26 Seattle, WA – Crocodile Cafe 10-27 [...]

The Apples in Stereo are probably the most straightforward of the E6 bunch. Which is just fine when you write sterling pop songs. I suspect that if '60s jangle pop hadn't existed, guys like these would probably have invented it. Give me angelic bah-bah s and a chorus full of burly horns, and I'm a happy Songblague. This video is accompanied by the following comment from Apples in Stereo frontman Robert Schneider: I have just seen the footage from the radio observatory in Mexico, but I had nothing to do with sending the transmission. The Apples haven't even completed our time machine yet. To avoid creating some sort of time travel paradox or space-time disaster, the band plans to stay in the studio for the rest of the year, so we don't run into our future selves on their tour backward in time. [...]
Apples in Stereo have released a video for the song "Told You Once" from the album "Travellers in Space and Time" (Yep Roc/Simian/Elephant 6). The song, as with many on the album, is very catchy, super fun and altogether a total fun experience. Check the video out, and get yourself out there and buy Travellers in Space & Time .

We brought you a Band In Focus for The Apples In Stereo back in May, so for anyone who doesn't know too much on these, head on over to our 'Band In Focus' section for a bit of a background check. The last video we featured had Elijah Wood in and was crazy to say the least, this one is no different, but no sign of Elijah in this one. The track is still as cheesy as we've come to expect but never the less still decent. Here's 'I Told You Once'....

¿No me creen?

the future is here, check this Robert Schneider ( Apples in stereo singer/producer) demonstrates his mind-controlled analog synthesizer, modifying a Mattel Mind Flex toy that uses EEG sensors, to play a Moog MG-1 synth with his thoughts. there's a second video after the jump with further developments [via Synthtopia ]
Filed under: The Hit List The current retro movement in the best songs of 2010 is a win-win: Oldsters who had declared music dead can now listen to new songs, making them look less uncool to their kids. Meanwhile, young folks can use new artists to discover songs from the past, which means they might finally learn who Al Green is. But even the [...]

My kid is too young to appreciate Yo Gabba Gabba but, based on the musicial guests the show draws, I think it will be dad-approved viewing in the near future. And the little dude already likes music. Yo Gabba Gabba: Music Is Awesome Volume 2 leads a thin release schedule Tuesday. The latest compilation features MGMT , the Tings Tings , Apples in Stereo , Hot Hot Heat , Datarock [...]

I know, I've owed this one to you, my readers, for a few months now. The plan originally was to concoct a sort of mid-year recap of the first half, dictating a slew of wonderful albums that may or may not come to find a spot on the inevitable end-of-year list. A hint at what may come. But that didn't happen. I added a few hobbies to my seemingly never ending list of things that eat away at my time (see above photo) and it fell down the priority list. [...]

At least one certain CoS writer loved the first volume of Y o Gabba Gabba! Music Is... Awesome! Now, after the announcement of a 60-city tour , said carefree spirit and others like him will once again get to experience Yo Gabba Gabba! and its nurturing of inner child and actual children everywhere with the August 31st release of Music Is... Awesome! Volume 2 . Take that, adulthood. While not as flashy as the original (which featured tracks like Of Montreal's "Brush Brush Brush" or [...]

(Photo from PopFest soundcheck.) The members of Apples in Stereo converged on Athens last Friday for a headlining slot at PopFest, treating fans to material from their entire catalog. The band will return to the road this fall supporting Travellers in Space and Time , and are slated to conclude the tour with stops in Colorado Springs and Denver. 10-22 Denver, CO - The Bluebird Theater 10-23 Colorado Springs, CO - Armstrong Hall 10-24 Salt Lake City, UT - The State Room [...]
Of Montreal's tenth album is their most accessible yet, offering a meshing of cohesiveness and ambition that coincides with the band's idiosyncratic sound. Kevin Barnes' lyrical variation of humor and serious infliction aid an album that is emotionally demanding, humorously witty, and melodically superb. With help from Jon Brion, it is their best produced and most organic-sounding effort yet.
It's Sunday night. All across the country, people are watching horrible television. I know this because I drove to Nicci's house after work only to learn that she was involved in a reality cooking show, and half of her neighbors were involved in an episode of a vampire drama. The other half of her neighbors were watching Jersey Shore . This left me with nothing to do but think about blogging. I was sidetracked for a few hours by a spur-of-the-moment poker tournament, but now that I've lost my $5 I can once again focus on sharing some music [...]
