When EDC NY's lineup was initially released, there was an outcry that the lineup didn't stack up to its Las Vegas cousin. What it may lack in big names (although there are still quite a few) it more than makes up for by providing an experience that is curated for diversity. Bass music is heavily represented this year with Figure and others finding refuge in the Basspod, a hardstyle closing set by Headhunterz is destined to be one of the most talked about experiences of the festival; second only to Saturday's grand finale - a Carl [...]
[top_post_splash num="16"] Sometimes the best art arises when a collective group of artists share their strengths with each other. This chart celebrates some of our writers' favorite groups of musicians in electronic music, representing everything from booty bass to deep house. Pop on your headphones and expand your musical tastes. Previously known as the progressive group Solarity , the duo decided to change directions in [...]
The success of Art Department may only be a short slice of Kenny Glasgow and Jonny White's music careers, but it's taken the Canadian duo to a new level of recognition. They've entered a new dimension on their Social Experiment tour, and this past Friday the boys of No.19 Music landed at Highline Ballroom for some Verboten New York fun. Cameo Culture opened up the night with plenty of soft-spoken, mellifluous melodies that spurred along a smooth progression for the evening. Their disco-inspired set included tracks of their own [...]
After establishing a presence in the deeper areas of dance music, The Rebel Agency, has just announced its move to join the Creative Artists Agency (CAA). As the world's leading entertainment and sports agency, CAA already represents David Guettta, Paul van Dyke, Steve Angello, Pretty Lights, Kraftwerk and more. The move sees Jazz Spinder, Matt Kingsley and Inbal Lankry setting up shop in CAA's Los Angeles office. “Jazz, Matt, and Inbal are among the most respected agents in the electronic genre,” added CAA’s head of music and managing partner, Rob Light. “Their deep-rooted knowledge of the [...]

It’s tough being a Canadian sometimes. While bustling with fresh talent, our producers are frequently mistaken for our neighbours to the south. Of course, we are often too polite to cause a scene but it's due time that we shine a light on our accomplished artists and let the world know we hamper more musical scope than just the Biebs. Canada has a vast EDM scene comparable, if not better, to metropolitans in the US, and we are mighty proud of it. As opposed to beach or desert festivals, we have outdoor blizzard raves fit with ice sculptures [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Lollapalooza We've been had before, so don't blame us (if we're wrong) in posting this " leaked " 2013 Lollapalooza lineup. According to Consequence of Sound , this image was posted last night, and has basically been confirmed by The Chicago Tribune as real. The Cure , Nine Inch Nails , Mumford and Sons , the Killers , [...]
Jonny White's No. 19 imprint presents a ten-track music sampler just in time for the warming months of spring. The package includes exclusive music from some of the label's key artists - showcasing works from My Favorite Robot , Cameo Culture, and more. The album starts off with Tone Of Arc's "Comes Only Once" - an innovative electronic cut that will wet your appetite for more. My Favorite Robot's "Sounds to Resurrect" gives us a hint of what to expect on their forthcoming No. 19 album debut, and Cameo Culture drop some Balaeric vibes with "Losing Game." The album [...]

The aerial view of Ultra Music Festival is massively deceiving. When perched some 50-stories above downtown Miami, the Bayfront Park location looks like a serene beach side environment with shade-producing palm trees lining the short walk in-between stages. In reality, the jaunt between the northern UMF Radio Stage and the intimate Bayfront Stage takes an approximate 20-minutes and requires revelers to weave through the crowds of the Main Stage, Live Stage, indoor public restrooms, the spill over from vending, and a hill scattered with resting fatigued Ultranauts. The simple reaction would be to avoid the hike, but for those [...]

Prior to Ultra Music Festival 2011, Consequence of Sound' s Editor-in-Chief, and one-time South Floridian, Michael Roffman left me with the simple words of wisdom: "Keep your eyes open." The advice seems obvious for properly covering a festival, but when that festival has seven stages, is flooded with beautiful bodies from every corner of the globe, and is located in one of the most picturesque locations in the United States (only bested by the view from the hill at Sasquatch!), the task can be a little daunting. Toss in dozens of world-renowned after-parties spread across some of the world's best [...]

Last Saturday Verboten hosted a party for Damian Lazarus ' Tenth anniversary of his label, Crosstown Rebels . This was an amazingly unique party to say the least. This was the most packed I had ever seen a Verboten party. We arrived super early to see Droog opening up. The two did a great job warming up peoples legs as they arrived and started filling the place up. When Infinity Ink came on the party was officially in full swing. Playing all absolute bangers including their [...]

LessThan3: What is it about BPM Festival that is so magical, and that really sets it apart from other festivals? Johnny White: It's Playa Del Carmen, it's one of our favorite places on Earth, and we do get around. The festival is what you make it, and it can be more than just going to clubs everyday, which is what most festivals are about. There's the weather, there's the best food on the planet, and there's being able to go out to Tulum and spend some time in paradise. [...]
Our pal and photographer Robert Kerian ended up going to BPM Festival last minute, the lucky bastard. Seizing the opportunity, we were fortunate enough to line up a few last minute interviews, which we’ll be bringing you in the coming week. First up is the dynamic duo Art Department, aka Jonny White and Kenny Glasgow. These two are rarely in the same place at the same time, living on opposite ends of the world and all, so we’re especially grateful for this one. “It's My Favorite Festival Hands Down...” -Jonny White [...]

What a nice surprise! After releasing the huge tune "Benediction" in October, Hot Natured , aka Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Luca C and Ali Love, are offering up the single "Assimilation" for free download. We've first heard this nice and deep cut in Jamie Jones' mix for Fabric mix, way back in 2011. It features vocals from Ali Love and Art Department's Kenny Glasgow. In related news, Hot Natured have also announced their signing to Pete Tong’s label FFRR / Warners. Their debut album is expected to be released [...]

Fenech Soler - All I Know ( Art Department remix) [ mp3 SoundCloud] Mixmag gave away this smooth, techy goodness. A must have.

Little equals the fresh possibilities and excitement a new year brings for music fans. 2012 was a very good year for dance/electronic music, especially with the underground bass and house scene thriving while stadium DJs dominating stages that had once been the sole stomping grounds of rock bands in years past. The good news is that 2013 looks like it's going to be an even bigger and better year for our genre, with something on offer for every fan and DJ. Here we present an overview of 125 releases coming this year. Better buckle up because it's going to be [...]
