The Aston Shuffle is just one of the many epic gems coming from that special island in the corner of the planet - Australia. The first time I encountered this piece was circa early 2009 around spring and this analogous bass just whisked me away; as to where, I still do not know. A definite banger, this track will send heads rolling deep into the night. From which module this bassline cranks from I'm not too sure.. Could it be a Minimoog ? Oberheim ? The Cat ? [...]

The only good thing out of our capital Canberra apart from the xxx porn and fireworks is Aston Shuffle and they have whipped up a few tunes for the almost here we could hug it 2010 Field Day. Filled to the brim with all participants of the festivity you can expect to hear Frenchman Fred Falke, the Juan Maclean, 'The Russian' Proxy, Modular-ites Knightlife, super funk-star Treasure Fingers and all the rest both here and on the day. The Garden brothers Joshua and Benjamin together with live drummer Robbie Mudrazija forms the massive Australian band Grafton Primary . Their live acts are said to be something extraordinary and as extra spice Benjamin brings the 80's back totally with his keytar. Of course the sound of Grafton Primary speak of 80's synth and flavours of today's electro pop but with a darker touch. Like Depeche Mode joined forces with Giorgio Moroder and Kraftwerk. I can also hear big similarities with the music that another of my favourites this year Filthy Dukes creates. And you [...]

Our second entry this evening from the treasure trove of tracks past, comes to us from N.A.S.A. They blew up all over the place during the Summer and the Treasure Fingers remix of, "Gifted," was absolute gold. I mean come on...how could it not be? "Gifted," alone has Kanye West, Santogold, AND Lykke Li! That's like the line up of the gods and when you have the song remixed by Treasure Fingers that's just about unthinkable. Well the unthinkable has happened, I found two more remixes that I apparently never posted. One from Dim Mak guru [...]

Anyone who follows a few different blogs will no doubt be aware of if not heard N.A.S.A. Their debut album features 17 tracks of innovative and original hip-hop with collaborations with artists such as M.I.A, Santogold, Ol' Dirty Bastard and Kanye West to name but a few (that's right the album has even more artists featured on it!) Apart from all the collaborations many of the tracks have been remixed by arguable some of the worlds most prolific prodcuers and I thought [...]

It is true that Minimal is the new "IT" thing it seems. But for some reason only the more indie Minimal producers are being praised all over, rather than titans like Dubfire , which is a shame since some of those producers just flat out suck. Maybe it's because they feel like they need the promotion more, but I'm sorry I'll never like that track What Is Guru that so many people were raving about as brilliance. Well, enough bitching, here's Minimal Batch #2. Once again, these are not just Techno tracks necessarily, but rather tracks [...]

Last month, the Eastwind festival organisers promised that they were "going to be dedicating 40% of the slots for international acts" Over 40 acts performed at Eastwind '08 . Under the assumption that at least that many will perform at Eastwind '09, we're looking at a good 16-18 international acts this year. The first of these were announced on the Eastwind website . They include BENGALA (Mexico) Black Sonora (Brazil) Cardamom (Netherlands) Pambo (Mexico) The Aston Shuffle (Australia) [...]

why? the aston shuffle - do you want more (the aston shuffle remix) (shit gets really real at 1:32)

The Aston Shuffle are a house music duo from Canberra, Australia. They are made up of DJ and producers Mikah Freeman and Vance Musgrove. When I first their super amazing dance anthem 'Do You Want More' (featuring Danimal Kingdom ) on their shockingly magnificent Mix CD for Ministry Of Sound, I was properly blown away, I listened to this track alot on the iPod. It's been a while, but the wait for a full release is finally over and the wait has been more than worth it. The release comes packed with staggering remixes from [...]
This post got taken down, so I shall put it back up! Now I am no expert on Dj'ing but over the past few weeks we have started playing gigs almost weekly and I am slowly building up a better understanding for what certain crowds wants to hear. Today I am releasing a few of my favorite tracks that I have played out over the past few weeks, I might be doing this because I am hungover and can't be bothered coming up with anything creative or it might be because people have been asking me about some [...]

Tommie Sunshine on vocals + Bloody Beetroots on the remix + Aston Shuffle to put the vocal back on top = Serious exclusive shit kicker !!! Download : The Aston Shuffle feat. Tommie Sunshine - Stomp Yo Shoes [Bloody Beetroots remix]

I am seeing The Bloody Beetroots tonight, live at Prince Of Wales. It will be a fun night! Support from Acid Jacks and Ajax , also, so it is a pretty decent bill. Don't think snarky thoughts about them because whatever else they may be they still make hell-good music and that is all that matters. Hysterical amounts of awful hipster fandom is a side-effect of being good and there is not much that can be done about that. ANWYAY THAT WAS A DIGRESSION. OKAY THEN. Here are my five favourite BBS tracks, [...]
New remix from Aussy duo, The Aston Shuffle , of N.A.S.A's colab with Lykke Li and Kanye West, "Gifted." The tune is an up-beat, dance happy, fix to the original. Enjoy! NASA- Gifted (The Aston Shuffle Remix) Download audio file (Gifted-The-Aston-Shuffle-Remi x.mp3) bonuses: [...]
