Although originally released on Dylan's 1964 LP, The Times They Are a-Changin , the song developed its own storied history throughout the years following. For context's sake here, check out the track's version featuring both Dylan and [...]

This album by Justin Bailey has been a long time coming. I've been lucky enough to hear bits and pieces of the Rust before it came out, but the final product is impressive. Bailey is proud of his Nashville roots, which shows in his smokey voice, alternative country and folk influences. He has lately spent [...]

2009's I and Love and You was North Carolina folk rock trio The Avett Brothers ' major label debut, and saw the group working with famed producer Rick Rubin, who has produced hundreds of albums over the last two decades. The risk involved with working alongside the up and coming group paid off, and once again The Avett Brothers and Rubin will be working together on the follow up to I and Love and You . According to an interview with Rolling Stone , the album is nearing completion and will see the band building [...]

2012 might be known as the year that modest bands work with giant producers. From Best Coast working with Jon Brion to Steve Albini producing for both Cloud Nothings and Screaming Females, big name producers are going outside what might be a sure thing for them and working with more up-and-coming artists. This is what Rick Rubin did with The Avett Brothers on I And Love And You in 2009, and the album turned out to be a breakthrough. For the follow-up, due this spring, The Avett Brothers have once again turned to Rubin to turn [...]

O The Avett Brothers retorna neste ano com seu sétimo álbum, e o sucessor do bem-sucedido I and Love and You contará novamente com Rick Rubin na produção. Em entrevista à Rolling Stone [...]

It is now time to unveil a playlist made from you our awesome readers' favorites from 2011. Thanks to everyone that sent us something!

Shortly after the release of their major label debut, 20092s I and Love and You , The Avett Brothers got huge . Their history in Tennessee is quite telling of this. One minute they're performing in a parking lot at Grimey's Records in Nashville, seconds later they're headlining the downtown arena nearby - a venue typically reserved for the likes of Springsteen and McCartney. None of this is a bad thing, of course. The Avetts have been a hardworking team for years now, and they deserve all the acclaim. It's just intriguing to see [...]
Emotions are mixed as they always are when leaving one place behind to face something completely unknown but I'm a major advocate for change and more-so pro anti-regrets
"Beggar in the Morning," the opening song from The Barr Brothers 2011 self titled album, makes me think of quiet, early morning breakfasts. Eggs, pancakes, bacon, and a couple cups of coffee, all items of comfort for me, would pair well with "Beggar in the Morning." It's just a nice little song, featuring a peaceful guitar part, and some foot stomping midway through, that serves as a perfect

There is nothing like being in the O.C. for a Social D gig. Some damn good rock-n-roll, a little moshing in the pit, beer drinking, flannel shirts, old pickup trucks in the parking lot, black Ts and some vintage hairdos made for what is the Social D experience. A very touching moment during the show was when Mike Ness' son, Julian, who has the looks, played his dad's Gibson for "Prison Bound." The Avett Brothers held their own and received a warm welcome. Words by Jacob Barron Last year was the first complete year of soundtracking and yea, our earth continued to spin, and we are hence blessed to find ourselves faced with yet another autumn. The same pile of leaves that you raked up last year will soon form in your backyards and the same bittersweet feeling you had last year will seep into your listening, or at least it should. That feeling of happy sadness goes along with autumn as it does with indie rock, since that sort of ambiguity is what fuels a great [...]
Bombadil's Bolivian folk-rooted music will bewitch your soul and open your eyes to a refreshingly new sound.

Over the weekend, while taking a walk in the Santa Monica neighborhood I passed by @McCabesGuitar shop, and as I normally do, stopped to check out their "Upcoming Shows Wall." One of the posters that caught my eye was the simply titled MEGAFAUN . It rang a bell. At some point I had heard or seen their name somewhere else, yet couldn't place it. Once I got home I searched the cobwebs in my brain and had a quick chat with @jasonspang. We traced it back to the connection with Bon Iver [...]
