As a life rule I don't watch the CMT channel, that is unless they're playing one of The Cannibal Run movies or if The Avett Brothers are going to be making an appearance. This time it just so happened to be the latter that got me to tune in. The Brothers of Avett played a new track to "present a new and current example" of the direction that they're going. It's definitely not a bad example and also isn't a far cry from what initially got the attention of so many of their fans. When you hear a [...]
On an episode of CMT's Unplugged, the Avett Brothers unveiled The Once and Future Carpenter , which you can watch here. The North Carolina folk rock trio debuted the song as they prepare the follow-up to I and Love and You . With a fairly strong streak of Americana music, the Avett Brothers are and should continue to be at the forefront of the genre's revival. This song exemplifies why. It gives us hope their next record will be as good as their last one. For more information on Scott and Seth and the [...]

. Pheramones- We Already Know . . . . . .When in doubt open with pheramones. At least that's my philosophy when it comes to playlists i'm not sure what the track 1 should be. Energy, talent, pretentiously unpretentious... these guys have it all when it comes to being an ideal indie band. This song [...]

The Avett Brothers @ State Theatre - June 2 Please welcome back Eric Wyman , a longtime friend of Hidden Track, to share his thoughts on last night's Avett Brothers show... Sure they appeared on national television performing at the Grammys with Bob Dylan. Sure they're now a highly billed act on the festival [...]

by Jon Stone | @jwstone I got a speeding ticket when I was about five miles from Three Sisters Park , the site just north of Peoria, IL where Summer Camp Music Festival has been held every year for the past ten. I was going nine over the posted 45-miles-per-hour speedlimit but there was a nice little stretch of road along the Illinois river and I was gazing out over it wondering what to expect from the weekend. A few minutes into the traffic stop, I was informed by the officer [...]
The Avett Brothers find love in a bar with David Childers' 'The Prettiest Thing' and showcase the songwriter's talent in storytelling.
The Avetts played a show in Pittsburgh last weekend that I was in the city for, but failed to actually go to. Argh. My friends tell me it was amazing and long and on top of that, they played a somewhat new song called "The Once And Future Carpenter" (formerly known as "Scared To Die"). It's sweet and catchy like 98% of the Avetts ' catalogue and it has both brothers playing acoustic and trading singing duties.
