In 1981 country and indie pop band The Lighthouse Keepers was formed in Australia. For the most part their popularity has remained down under within the indie scene. They've got a really pretty sound, and an intriguing one at that. It's probably because I've never really heard a country indie pop band before, of this type. Some bands are to much of either for me. None the less I believe this is my first post with female vocals, and I'm really happy about it. I hear other groups like Lou Reed , Violent Femmes [...]

Dante is joined by bandmates Jeff Ehrenberg, Gabriel Hart, Jada Wagensomer, Matt Polley and Laena Geronimo for 2012's Buh , an eclectic offering of sounds ranging from surf rock to weird dance pop à la [...]

If you were watching Late Night With Jimmy Fallon the other night, you might have been rather taken aback and amused by special musical guest Alicia Keys' choice of song. Instead of performing one of her hits, she broke out a cover of the theme song to 1980s Disney TV series Adventures of the Gummi Bears . The bizarre spectacle got us thinking about some of the other covers of TV themes that have surfaced over the years — surprisingly enough, there aren't that many to choose from, especially once you set aside the inexplicable '90s/'00s [...]
I'm on cold meds right now and I feel like that whenever I'm on anything for my sinuses my copyediting skills vanish. So apologies for any drastic typos or poor sentence structure. And now with that out of the way, here is the latest in my continuing efforts to provide you with the dumbest and most pointless remixes to ever grace the Earth. The B-52s (Meet) The Flintstones (Quarry Mix) (Meet) The Flintstones (Bam Bam Tribal Beat) (Meet) The Flintstones (Bedrock Dub) [...]

SSION: Bent - I'd love to see SSION's live show; frontman Cody Critcheloe has a reputation for flash. The band is often accompanied by props, projections, backup dancers and/or vocalists, and whatever else will entertain the audience. They claim as muses the masters of performance art and gay culture, as well as the music of Iggy Pop and the B-52s. I definitely hear more of a poppy, weird B-52s vibe than Iggy punk in Bent , SSION's newest release and the center of the band's current tour, but the value of that may be in the ear of [...]
Without TV, Riff Raff's hater count would be a small fraction of what it is today. We're only a decade or two removed, at most, from the retirement of the phrase "fall television season." It's a misnom

David Byrne's latest release , a collaboration with St. Vincent, is a big, sassy, brass-filled celebration of angular rhythms and obtuse observations. If it sounds great (and it does) that's because it also sees him returning to the vibe he had first explored in his earliest solo recordings, such as Songs from The Catherine Wheel and Music For the Knee Plays , and in his production work on the B-52's Mesopotamia . The first of these, the score for a production for Twyla Tharp's dance company, was promoted with [...]

Let's step back into time when wearing bright neon colors and big hair was all the rave. Although looks have changed, nothing stopped the party on Saturday night at The Greek Theatre with the B-522s and Squeeze. After making an appearance at this year's Coachella, we were lucky to hear back from Squeeze so soon. Original members Glenn Tilbrook (still sporting the longest goatee I've ever seen) and smooth Chris Difford deserved full attendance as most people were still strolling in with their alcoholic beverages. Not sure if Squeeze is trying to get a [...]
