Sometimes when life gets too crazy you need to pack up, grab some friends, and head off the beaten track; maybe find an old church somewhere where you can be free to explore a "utopic side project". Ok, maybe that's not for all of us; but for the guys of the band Showstar , Silicon Ballet , it was just that. Utopia is the name of the "beautiful but weird mini-album" that was born out of that old church in Belgium (rainboot.co.uk). The first single, "Sunglasses," is a great introduction into the [...]
Sillicon Ballet es un proyecto paralelo de los miembros del grupo belga Showstar. Utopia es su primer Ep.

Oh man, who is in desperate need of some creepy Friday night/pre-Halloween weirdness? Thought so. Actually pretty cool this one, appropriately drugged-out visuals for an equally drugged-out tune, upbeat, looped fuzz guitar progressions and some heavily reverberated vocals somewhere in the background, that's more or less it, and you know we'd never ask for more. Not really any valid info on this one, but "Hall Ballet" is part of Sofa Pitz's (presumably debut) cassette New Moments , out sometime soon via the rad Beer On The Rug .

I'm trying to not think of this tune as novelty, but when a ballet dancer moonlights as a crooning synth popper, it's hard to really know how to receive it. I suppose that's part of the allure. As is the sheer catchiness. Karl Biscuit - La Morte

The rock legend ventures into new territory--ballet--for his latest work.
Je crois que c'est un symptôme d'époque, ne pas s'embarrasser de finir un morceau comme ça. Pour sa défense, ça marche assez bien si l'écoute en boucle.Radicalfashion - Ballet (Dansx Remix)

"In sorting through the glut of instrumental music releases we receive at The Silent Ballet, it's rare to come across a single song all by its lonesome and be excited. "Surry Hills" is the first work released by the Perth, Australia-based Apricot Rail since their eponymous debut back in 2009. While previously having erred on the the shimmery and sunny side of post rock, the band shows a new level of maturity in balancing chimes, woodwinds, guitars and other spritely sounds. With flute and clarinet leading the sun to a fog-less morning, all manner of life delicately rises from the [...]

Filed under: News Ethan Miller, Getty Images If you were a part of Decca, the label that famously rejected the Beatles for having "no future in show business," then you probably spent the last 50-odd years eating massive helpings of humble pie. Luckily, time heals most wounds. According to Rolling Stone , Decca has partnered with Paul McCartney to release the score of his first ballet, 'Oceans Kingdom.' The show will [...]

Poison Control Center toured for nearly 200 consecutive days and nights supporting Sad Sour Future, an album they released May 18th of 2010. In the midst of that zig-zag of the states the band wrote most of of what appears on Stranger Ballet, which was released this past June. The album opens with a bright pluckey guitar riff and 1-2 drum beat and lyric "What's the difference? you know your day is just shit and piss," something fondly reminiscent of a 19902s (the band not decade) track. Now I can't remember the last time I've committed myself to [...]

Excerpt: " The Licence To Interpret Dreams is a captivating yet lethargic album, slowly layering simple parts as a means of carrying the listener along, creating a hazy and ambiguous sense of place, dreamlike in its contours... Rich with imagery from the song titles and the striking album art, Antonymes' work still manages to convey a sense of vagueness and ambiguity, making the references to dreams carry more weight. A dreamlike logic, or better, perhaps, a counterlogic, guides the trajectory of the album... Hazeldine is certainly a thoughtful craftsman, and he [...]
