Thankfully, the Bankees are going strong with their new efforts, deciding to release an EP in honor of Record Store Day. Just a few weeks ago I put up "Heaven 1&2," but this song has a different feel to it. It begins slowly, with a tinkering piano and a lightly strummed guitar part, awaiting the entrance of the vocals. A minute later, the song takes off into old school rock pastiche, with swagger and soul, just as a guitar solos in momentarily. For me, this song shows the growth of the group over the last few years, crafting [...]
I'm going to support this band until the day I die, so I'm glad they've let us premiere one of their most accomplished tracks to date. If you recall, last year I doted on Home , but the band has been hard at work crafting new sounds and a new record. It's titled Heaven , and currently is looking for a home (hit me up if you want to put this record out, and I'll get you in touch). Seeing as I'm familiar with the group, you can tell that [...]
Here it is. I know you'll hate it; I know you'll disagree, but that's not the point in making an arbitrary list. We here at ATH worked really hard to fit in the tastes of the four of us, and when we decided upon our Top 50, it really boied down to simple math. What albums did we love when they came out? Do we still enjoy spinning those records months later? If they're in the Top 50, then the asnwer is probably yes. I mean, our Top 2 records came out in January, and still play a vital part [...]

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars Occasionally you encounter a band and a record that fits perfectly into who you are or where you are; these are the sorts of albums that you'll always find endearing, no matter who tells you otherwise. Home by The Bankees , just might be that album, reaching beyond my expectations and finding its way straight into the core of my being. Admittedly, I'm not in the same place as the lyrics on "Single Life" by any [...]
I've long been a supporter of Bankees ever since I came across their last album, Kimono . Unfortunately, the French group has largely gone unnoticed over here in the States, but I hope I can change that. This song is their first single from their upcoming record, Homes , which is shaping up to be one hell of a listen. On this tune, they're taking a casual approach to effortless pop, just letting the guitar trickle in while the vocals calmly win you over. [...]
One of our readers pointed us in the direction of this new track, as it's hard to keep up with the Bankees , as they haven't gotten a lot of love from the US press, not to mention there just isn't a lot of info out there on the band. But, apparently they've just recorded this wonderful new track, which reminds me of Comet Gain so they can help raise money for those in Japan in need. A good cause, and a good song? Yea, go help out HERE . And if [...]

Running around the Internet looking for sweet tunes often leads you to promising little groups. My most recent discovery, and a band I've been closely following is The Bankees , a French group, and one not specializing in pop-well, not in the way I've come to think about French pop lately. They have a new Black EP coming out, and it's really gritty and slow, which is a touch different than where they were last year. This single sort of lurks around your speakers, slowly walking in and out [...]

Every once in awhile you come across something that you really takes you aback, but you can't really explain it to anyone, or really grasp you're own understanding of it. Such is the case with French band The Bankees , who I really can't find any information on at the moment, other than they just released an album titled The Girls LP . It's got all this classic British invasion feeling to it, and I just can't walk away from it. Here's the latest single; see if it hits you [...]
