Seattle’s experimental folk rock band, Song Sparrow Research, makes pretty music. Perhaps that may seem too simplistic, but truth be told, oftentimes the most straightforward things entail more complexity and require more effort than it first appears. Song Sparrow Research are a true indie band in every sense of the word having self produced and independently released two full length LP’s and one EP. The California legends will continue to  celebrate their 50th anniversary with a series of greatest hits compilations and remastered reissues. First up is Greatest Hits: 50 Big Ones , a deluxe, career-spanning box set and/or digital collection that compiles 50 of the band's biggest hits. Here's some immaculately executed vintage 70s AM radio jams from The Explorers Club , whose album Grand Hotel came out in February, but is just hitting our radar today. Very Dawes-like in their presentation, and very Beach Boys in their sound. An enjoyable Wednesday listen.
