In Halifax and making plans for this evening? Why not hit Michael's Bar & Grill to check out The Belle Comedians with Rain Over St. Ambrose and Dance Movie? I enjoyed their last EP , and we've talked in glowing terms about both ROSA and Dance Movie , so it seems like it would be a great show. For those not here in Halifax, you can still go check out The Belle Comedians latest EP, Autumn Ought To... . I've been spending some time with it this today, and it's a beautiful [...]
The Belle Comedians are the kind of band that takes the stage like they are climbing into your ear and hanging out for while. It's a comfortable and interesting sensation. Alot of their music transcends the typical verse-chorus structure and instead, aims for impact. Songs build and flow, taking you by the hand and sharing [...]

It's not long into The Belle Comedians ' forthcoming EP, Autumn Ought To... , to realize that this five-piece band are on to something. You might be tempted to lump them in with other east coast outfits bands who are playing similar big melodies, but there's something special about The Belle Comedians that I just don't get with bands like Hey Rosetta! For one thing, EP opener "Break + Enter" eschews the usual bombastic opening statement that says, "Look at us! Look at us! We play loud!" Starting with a lone guitar, Benjamin Ross' [...]

by teepoo As a thank you to fans, east coasters The Belle Comedians released an EP called Without A Sound for free/name your price on their Bandcamp . Take a listen to Modern Touch. The gentle piano intro leads the rougher vocals to surprise you a little bit when they come in. It takes you a few listens to understand their folk and classical infused indie-rock techniques but I assure you it's worth the time. The Belle Comedians- Modern Touch [...]

I'm no expert, but it seems like The Belle Comedians are a band who could do some big things. Now that's something that's been said about countless Halifax bands in the past, and, considering the mellow(ish) brand of folk-infused indie rock that this five-piece plays, I'm not talking about top-40-radio-type big things. But when you see the success an outfit like Hey Rosetta!, who are vaguely similar in their emphasis on lyrics and melody, have had of late, I could see The Belle Comedians finding an audience for what they do.
