Two Bicycles — I'm Not Afraid To Wait For You

Two Bicycles — I'm Not Afraid To Wait For You Похоже, нас ждёт серьёзный выбор – канадец Teen Daze, один из первых музыкантов, сделавших сборник для журнала «Misc.», выложил новый сингл своего проекта Two Bicycles «I'm Not Afraid to Wait For You».

Frontier Cyclist: Winter's Remorse

Frontier Cyclist: Winter's Remorse Janie, baby, I miss you. Little darling, It's been a long, cold, lonely winter, and I know that I no longer want to be apart. I know I've been an ass, but it's been so hard without you. These few solo months have helped me reassess our relationship, and I just want you to hear me out. At first, I kind of liked it. The metro was less nerve racking; a bit more stable than your rocket to the crypt approach. I tried to fill the void you left with books, magazines and ipods, and, I admit, it [...]

Dunkin Donuts Bike Rack

Dunkin Donuts Bike Rack I don't really own a bike, after all they don't make much sense in Boston, not like they do in Portlandia. However, if I did ride a bike, I would certainly make sure I modded it to include this Dunkin Donuts bike rack , specifically designed to transport a dozen of your favorite donuts. [via doobybrain ]

Velodrome's are Awesome!

Velodrome's are Awesome! This past weekend was the Lightning Velo Winter Classic at the Los Angeles Velodrome . Lately I have ben getting into track racing culture/keirin and seeing the races was one of the best things ever. The sound of the wood roaring when the pack comes by is unmatched. I didn't know the peak of the velodrome is equivalent to two stories high! It's also crazy how fast you can go, Theo Bos of the Nederlands holds the LAVelo track Kilometer record with a speed of 58.857 mph! Definitely definitely encourage people to enjoy [...]

For Your Head

For Your Head The Gracious Grey wool winter cap by Automatic Cowboy Joy. I want one of these even though we don't have too much winter in LA. Does anyone know how to make these? I realized some people look really cool with these, and some look like mega dorks, and not the cool kind but the just dweebersaurus ones. I'm just saying... =) I have seen a million of the Brooklyn and Campagnolo ones riding around. Those are basically the cheapest I thinks. We should get some BCR bbq [...]

Bike Snob – Book Review by Will Kenton

Bike Snob – Book Review by Will Kenton Bike Snob I have a friend, a novelist , who lives in Jackson, Wyoming. You probably know Jackson as the home of great skiing and Dick Cheney. It features spaces so wide open they had to order an extra-big sky, and mountains so perfect a couple of French guys named them "the big tits" (i.e. Grand Tetons). This is the kind of place where people buy Chryslers new, and no one has walked anywhere since James A. Garfield was shot. In brief, it is the home of car culture. You [...]

Tokyo 2 Osaka

One of my favorite bike vids. Just a great idea and all that human spirit cool stuff! =)

Frontier Cyclist, vol. 23 – Bike Math (Best of FP 2010)

The mathematics of living is invisible, ghosted like dry erase marker on my father's whiteboard. The mathematics of bicycling, however, is about to be much, much clearer. Bike academia is back! When I was a kid, my mathematician father had his office in our basement. One wall was dominated by a whiteboard, which had not yet appeared in "regular" schools, and thus considered by my friends to be military grade. On it he wrote incomprehensible codes in the slanted writing of a scientist. That whiteboard was mysterious as nuclear engineering (for all I know, it may have been [...]

Frontier Cyclist vol. 15 – Maxims of Biking (Best of FP 2010)

Frontier Cyclist vol. 15 – Maxims of Biking (Best of FP 2010) bike is the new black [Today we're thrilled to have a guest cycling post by Jeff Wilser , acclaimed author and syndicated columnist, expert on the art of modern manhood, and perhaps the only ex-Marine with a Master's degree in Creative Writing.] A year ago I switched to biking. It seemed like the thing to do: better for the planet, better for my butt. (Confession: I care more about my butt than the [...]

Frontier Cyclist, vol. 20 – 1,600 Mile Summer (Best of FP 2010)

Frontier Cyclist, vol. 20 – 1,600 Mile Summer (Best of FP 2010) [Our weekly urban cycling column appears on Tuesdays] Post Crash Face Last year I broke two of my front teeth in a bike crash. I was drunk; the street, icy. - After the crash, I didn't ride for a few days. But pretty soon, within a week or two, really, I was back at it again. Now I ride more than ever. More carefully sometimes, though more recklessly too sometimes. Seems like human nature. Go figure. - Here's some [...]

Frontier Cyclist – An Englishman Bikes in New York

Frontier Cyclist – An Englishman Bikes in New York The Dahon (Folded) For the aspiring cyclist Mark Twain has this solitary piece of advice: tackle "one villainy…at a time."Although I am a knowledgeable rider, Twain's counsel resonates as an apt description of my cycling experience in New York: I'm an Englishman who has lately been forced onto the pot-holed roads by escalating subway costs (and an expanding midriff), but my bicycle commute - to the upper west side from Harlem - has a tendency to throw various villainies at me simultaneously. Let me give you a virtual backie (Brit informal: a ride on the back [...]

Globes Keep Getting Better

Globes Keep Getting Better I'm not implying anything about the origins of Globe; the early Roll series is beautiful without a doubt (See the Globe Roll 2 in Fjord Blue , undeniable). All other mega brands that have not swung their mighty marketing and manufacturing powers to eat the "rest of us" market, you best follow suit. Specialized has nailed it with their just 3-year old baby-Globe Bikes. Okay Globe was actually launched as a line in the 90's but who really cares cause this is a new era. Verdad? 2011 will be [...]

Ask a (Frontier) Psychiatrist (Best of FP 2010)

Ask a (Frontier) Psychiatrist (Best of FP 2010) Dear Frontier Psychiatrist, Last week, you featured Sun Airway's video for " Put the Days Away ." It combined my love of cute girls, bikes, and music. Do you know of any other music videos that feature bikes so prominently? -Handle-Bar Moustache Dear HBM, Here at FP, each member of our staff has his or her strengths and weaknesses. The Frontier Mixologist , though he orders off-menu with impressive aplomb, considers his musical tastes diverse because he listens to both Conway Twitty and [...]

Frontier Cyclist – Bike Pacing

Frontier Cyclist – Bike Pacing Red Hook When two or more cyclists take one ride, there's negotiation involved. How you keep up, nudge faster, double back, move in tandem—your feelings come out when you bike with someone else. 1. Pacing on a Date, or: How to Take it Slow and Not Lose Momentum D. and I biked to Red Hook together on our second date. Bikes are perfect for dates, but also risky. Like bringing your parents on a blind date, your relationship with your bicycle exposes a lot. But the two of [...]

Frontier Cyclist – Bike Theft

Frontier Cyclist – Bike Theft Bike Theft If you ride a lot, you certainly identify with your bike. You might feel silly admitting it, or you might have named your bike and given it a comforter to sleep under at night. Either way, that thing is part of you. So how can we possibly lock up a little piece of ourselves on the mean streets whenever we go inside for a bagel? I know, I know: you shouldn't lock up a bike outside in New York City without knowing that somewhere, someday, it will probably be stolen. I can't [...]

[Listen/Download] The Bicycles- Australia

[Listen/Download] The Bicycles- Australia by teepoo The Bicycles is a band out of Toronto, who aims to spread life-affirmation around. This is a classic track from 2007 album The Good, the Bad, the Cuddly . I have a friend who's been in Australia for more than half a year now and I hope he comes back soon. The song reminisces about the good times and a holiday in the foreign country. A pretty simple tongue and cheek song with addition of sparkley electronic noises. The Bicycles- Australia [...]

Video Hits:: Rich Aucoin, Fanshaw & The Bicycles

Video Hits:: Rich Aucoin, Fanshaw & The Bicycles I know you've likely been missing your hill-curated, semi-regular dose of Canadian videos of late, as its been over a month since the last one, but we'll try and make it up to you today. And what better way to make it up to you than in 3D! That's not too say that we've done any 3D work ourselves, that credit must go Halifax's one man party, Rich Aucoin, and his video for the jam-tastic Push . Ever since we became aware of Rich and his Grinch-syncing ways, [...]

Frontier Cyclist – 'Hapless' Females and Bike Shops

Frontier Cyclist – 'Hapless' Females and Bike Shops Have you ever felt patronized in a wine store? How about a record shop? Somehow the boys who sell records always seem to be judging your devotion to Rick Astley. If you're not an expert in arcane roots music, it feels as though you're trespassing on their time and space. Bike shops can be worse. Until last year, I rode sturdy hybrid bikes with the happy ignorance of the post-industrial age—this machine works, I know it works, and there is no need to know how it works. So when I inherited my mom's road [...]
