[We are proud to have the nearly award winning Pete Collins on board for this review. His interjections are cleverly formatted in italics for your extra pleasure. Normally, he can be found here . Plus some of the pictures are his] With home printed programmes, highlighted with our preferences for the running order, we discussed our day at Sounds From The Other City with a warm up pint. What we should've done is fashion said printouts into little boats and sent them down the bloody Irwell given the use they were - this turned into [...]

J. Michelle Martin-Coyne So what are you doing June 16? Are you one of those so conditioned by years of Toronto Radiohead shows selling out in a heartbeat that you tripped over yourself getting tickets for their Downsview gig as soon as they went on sale, even though the new venue was over twice the size of the Amphitheatre and general admission? Or are you one of those conscious of the fact that this is a King Of Limbs tour and realistically speaking, they probably won't be playing the stuff [...]

Well I know what my plans are for Friday, March 16th. They involve the recording artists of Third Man Records and, of course, its CEO, Jack White. White and other Third Man artists including his ex-wife Karen Elson, The Black Belles, Pujol, Lanie Lane and artists including White Rabbits, Reggie Watts and more will take the stage starting at 7:30 pm at The Stage in Austin, TX for a Third Man showcase that will probably be one of the highlights of the entire week. Furthermore, Third Man's Rolling Record Store will [...]

Emerging from two years of carefully crafted buzz with a well-received debut album , Jack White protégés and Third Man Records label denizens The Black Belles are Nashville's preeminent gothic garage rock export. Their post-Valentine's day show at Chicago's Empty Bottle proved that word has spread extraordinarily well about the mysterious ladies. Sandwiched between a bill consisting of local act Hollows and tour mates Bleached, The Black Belles packed the L-shaped venue to its grimy gills, drawing all types from the curious interlopers to a trio of fans dressed in signature Black Belles uniform: full ebony-hued garb and [...]

photos by Dana (distortion) Yavin Bleached @ Knitting Factory We missed the first opener Habibi , but Bleeding Rainbow ( formerly Reading Rainbow ), Jack White's friends The Black Belles , and their tour-mates Bleached ( ex Mika Miko ) at Knitting Factory in Brooklyn on Saturday night (2/11). Here are some pictures. Now in Chicago, The Black Belles will peform [...]
I went to this show knowing basically nothing about the Black Belles and left with little having changed. I came to the show having only heard a handful of their songs (not including their stint backing up Stephen Colbert on his Third Man Records 73). I liked them enough to know that I'd probably kick [...]

I had the chance to see The Black Belles at their first ever live performance at Third Man Records on Halloween of 2010 and was blown away. Since then they have released a solid full length album, and a personal favourite 73 with one Stephen Colbert . Things have been bright and shining for the women in black so far, and now you have a chance to see them. Along with The Black Belles will be the fine ladies of Bleached , so this show is like a Paul Giamatti film - a Win [...]

Hail to the digits. The 9:30 Club came through in fine form on December 23rd. Despite the fact that 90% of DC's residents get the hell outta the nation's capital come the holidays, the venue put on a great show with four awesome, and mostly local, bands. The Blackbells were the first of the four – hailing from faraway Brooklyn, New York. I'd seen the band perform once before at DC9, and remembered them as pint-sized energy bombs (for some reason the musicians all look diminutive on stage). They did not betray memory. [...]
