Tickets for the first inaugural Interlocken music festival will be released in two waves, with the initial "artist-presale" opening May 22nd, and general "early-bird" access going on sale May 23rd. The four-day bash will be held on Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, VA just south of Charlottesville. What's most of interest about Interlocken, other than the fact that it is one of very few festival appearances for Grateful Dead offshoot band, Further, since the band withdrew from Bottlerock due to injuries guitarist Bob Weir sustained after a fall at a Port Chester performance, [...]
Interlocken is a new four-day music festival, set for September 5th - 8th in Central Virgina, "with an emphasis on world class music, locally sourced food and sustainability." The inaugural lineup is headlined by Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Grateful Dead offshoot Furthur, and The Black Crowes, who'll appear alongside Zac Brown Band, The String Cheese Incident, and many more artists still to be announced. According to a press release, many of the artists will be performing over multiple days, and will be featured in unique pairings. There will also be no overlapping sets. "Most festivals these [...]
The first lineup announcement from the Interlocken Festival has just been made by our friends at Relix. Put together by H.O.R.D.E. co-founder Dave Frey and Relix publisher Pete Shapiro, the event will take place from September 5 - 8 at Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Virginia. Today, we've found out that Furthur, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The Black Crowes and String Cheese Incident will be among the bands performing at the first of what we hope will be many Interlocken's. In addition, country-rocker Zac Brown will team up with The String Cheese Incident at the [...]

Have you ever been to Alabama? I didn't exactly stick around to get an intimate understanding of the atmosphere, but the 48 hours that I spent there in 2005, stranded outside of Alabama with a broken-down shortbus and 5 cranky band dudes didn't exactly make me want to revisit any time soon. But then those wily Southerners went and decided to throw an incredible festival in Gulf Shores -right on the damn beach (look at that freaking picture from last year^^)- with headliners like Stevie Wonder and Kings of freakin' Leon. It's safe to say [...]
When rumors about the first ever BottleRock Napa festival began to circulate, they were impressive: early flyers listed Dave Matthews Band and Pearl Jam as headliners (neither was ever confirmed). Still, the festival had the attention of the Napa Valley and surrounding music lovers long ago. Once the final lineup had been released and tickets [...] The post BottleRock 2013 Review: Napa's Inaugural Music, Wine, and Food Festival appeared first on Spinning Platters .

The recently reunited Black Crowes have just been added to the lineup for this year's Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival , which takes place at Stephens Lake Park in Columbia, Missouri on September 20 - 22. The Crowes are set to perform on Saturday, September 21. There's HT faves a plenty on the Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival lineup including Blues Traveler, John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Mavis Staples, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Keller Williams with The Travelin' McCourys, Phosphorescent and Bela Fleck [...]
A massive live set from one of the 1990s' most successful rock acts chronicles a band that might be unparalleled in its resiliency. Here's a question: Should the Black Crowes eventually be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Before you start choking on scoffs, consider: In 2000, the Atlanta outfit was joined by one of the few people still alive on rock guitar's Mount Rushmore, Jimmy Page, for Live at the Greek: Excess All Areas, a double-disc set chronicling a two-night stand in 1999 that brought the Crowes into somewhat rarified air merely by being...

Back on April 21, The Black Crowes presented a guest-laden acoustic performance at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium that turned out to be one for the ages. Included among the many debuts on that fateful evening was the Crowes' first-ever take on bob Dylan's Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues. While Crowes front man Chris Robinson had performed the tune with both Chris Robinson Brotherhood and Phil and Friends numerous times in the past, it was a treat to hear The Black Crowes tackle the Highway [...]

About two months ago, my iPod shuffle landed on The Black Crowes' "A Conspiracy" as I was running around the Tan in Melbourne, and I had one of my increasingly semi-regular '90s moments. They were, after all, some of the best years of my life so far. As flashbacks of Bill and Hillary Clinton filled my head, I remembered that Atlanta's Robinson brothers and company were my second-favorite rock & roll group of the decade (and the genre's top squawkers, high above Sheryl Crow and Counting Crows), and promptly spent the next 24 hours or so listening [...]
Did you embrace your inner Southern rocker on Friday night, and groove to the Black Crowes? The Georgia band's sold-out, incense-infused show at the Pageant brought out fans of all stripes to th... Continue reading "Photos: The Black Crowes Bring $30 Herb Grinders, Hits, to the Pageant" >
HT faves The Black Crowes have added a summer tour date as they will play Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, New York on July 26th with special guests The London Souls. This show comes in addition to the previously announced dates in which the Crowes are teaming up with the Tedeschi Trucks Band and The London Souls. Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 26th, at 10AM ET. Earlier we reported on last night's guest-filled Black Crowes show at the Ryman [...]

The Black Crowes promised special guests for their all-acoustic show at the Ryman Auditorium on Sunday night, but no one was expecting nearly a dozen guests to show up for the Nashville finale. Bluegrass legend Sam Bush, former Black Crowes member Audley Freed, Chuck Mead of BR549 and ALL of Old Crow Medicine Show were just a few of the musicians on hand to sit in with The Black Crowes. [Photo by @IdlewildSouth ] The first guest to come out last night was mandolinist Sam [...]

The Black Crowes kicked off a two-night stand at the iconic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville last night and brought out a special guest with them. Saturday's show was an all-electric rocker as opposed to tonight's gig which is the Crowes' only announced all-acoustic performance. Ironically, tonight's show is billed as "with Special Guests," but that didn't stop the band from welcoming legendary guitarist Peter Frampton out to jam with them on a four-song string towards the end of their set. Last night The Black Crowes' Lay Down With Number 13 tour rolled into The Windy City for the first of two shows at The Vic. The band continues to slowly expand their repertoire for the tour and last night offered a surprise cover debut of a Rolling Stones classic. The Crowes lit into their first-ever version of Jumpin' Jack Flash out of Descending last night and video of the cover debut has already surfaced. Watch Jackie Greene rip it up as his mates "woo hoo"... [...]

HT faves The Black Crowes' Lay Down With Number 13 tour rolls on to Chicago tonight. On Friday night the group performed at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, where they delivered a three-song encore that included a cover of Oh! Sweet Nuthin' by The Velvet Underground. Rich Robinson handles vocals on the cover, and in this version lays down a particularly tasty guitar solo. Take a look at the Crowes' take on Oh! Sweet Nuthin' from Friday night in Philly...

"Neon Rouge are a raw & hard hitting Garage-Blues band hailing from the North Staffordshire area. Offering a perfect blend between both old and modern sounds, Neon Rouge really are a unique and exciting new prospect". Lethally infectious Blues interplay with a saucy Indie twist, there's only a trio of songs available online at present but a few sharp listens places you right where the Stoke-On-Trent band probably want you to be. Neon Rouge are committed to the cause, their obvious gregarious nature and impeccable musical confidence added to the new material planned for the coming [...]

Arguably, the best Black Crowes lineup of all-time was the one that held together for most of the '90s in which drummer Steve Gorman, keyboardist Eddie Harsch, bassist Johnny Colt and guitarist Marc Ford augmented the Brothers Robinson. Ford's tone and Harsch's versatility fit Chris and Rich's music so well while no one has held down the drummer's seat in The Black Crowes like Steve Gorman. For this week's Full Show Friday, we take a look at a classic Black Crowes performance from November 19th, 1996 [...]
