From May 2008: A track from The Black Dog, one of the originators of the UK IDM scene. Along with Beaumont Hannant, they originally recorded for Sheffield-based GPR before moving to Warp and then Soma. Since they started in 1989 and have a prolific catalogue, there might be quite a few entries. The Black Dog was formerly the trio of Ken Downie, Ed Handley, and Andy Turner, also known at the time as Black Dog Productions. Ed and Andy left to pursue their [...]

Consider this week's batch of new-release picks a statement about the powers of - and pathways made possible by - artistic longevity. While one of the acts in this week's roundup is only on their second album, the other three have each been around in excess of 20 years, and haven't lost a single step along the way. Whether your passions tend toward techno, synth-pop, or electro-bedecked art rock, you're sure to find something you'll take a shine to in this stack of sounds, so start digging in. [...]

DC based rock band Black Dog Prowl have a bevy of local gigs coming up in the DMV, and are in the works of a followup EP to their May 2010 debut Half Truths & Lies . And most recently, they rocked the polls and were top winners of DC Deli's Band of the Month for October. So we got in touch with Josh Finver (guitar.vox), Robert Peters (guitar), Sky Allen (bass), and Enzo Ferrogiaro (drums) to find out what's up with them. Here they tell us about Tower Records memories, their new single "Vapor", [...]

The third in the The Black Dog's "Liber" series has arrived and it's a bit of a belter. The 123 serves as a final taster of their forthcoming "Liber Dogma" album on Soma and will no doubt whet your appetite for its arrival on October 24th. First track "High Rise Choir Reprise" moves slightly to the side of the techno leanings of the previous two outings and sees the trio strap a shuffly garage style break to the bottom end of a doomy bass monster. Creepy rising synth pads [...]

British techno legends The Black Dog are some of the most influential players who have helped to define IDM and electronic music of the 1990s and 2000s, alongside other major names like Aphex Twin and Autechre. September 5, 2011, saw Dust Science release Liber Temple- The Black Dog's second installment of the Liber singles series. This group of 123 singles have come after the release of their critically acclaimed take on Brian Eno's Music for Airports, entitled Music for Real Airports. [...]

New album - Liber Dogma - from electronic originals, The Black Dog. Clips to listen. They're calling it dark wave. That, the album title and tracks like The Death Ov The Black Sun had me fearing for PWOG-influenced noize (given their collaboration on Dadavistic Orchestra). Thankfully, there's relatively little of that. And tracks like Dark Wave Creeping and Eden 353 have some of the ambient flavour of their Music For Airports album (2010). But overall, this is much more a club-based album than many of their releases, with its harder tones. [...]

WALLBANGAAAAAAAAAAAA. This brand new gem absolutely rips. As the march towards the new Black Dog album ("Liber Dogma" forthcoming on Soma in October) continues, the trio have just unleashed the second single in a three part series to whet your appetite for the full length experience. Picking up where the first part "Liber Kult" left off, we're once again firmly in techno territory. The release opens with the mechanical sounds of "Heavy Industry", sprinkling an industrial soundscape over a 4/4 backing laced with a deep layer of sub bass to keep things chugging along. [...]

While The Black Dog's recent Music For Real Airports album was enjoyed by all here at the Labs, we couldn't help but crave some new techno goodness from the Dog. It seems we weren't alone and this year will see three stripped back techno 12s from the trio ahead of their new album for Soma in October. The first of the three has arrived in the shape of "Liber Kult" and comes loaded with two slices of bass driven beauty. First track "Black Chamber Order" is a chunky driving techno number that [...]
![Kutiman – Black Dog [Video Mashup Cover?]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3584763_lg.jpg)
It's a bit hard to give a good descriptive title to this new release from Kutiman . Now, we first posted about him when he did his Thru-You album where he took random videos from youtube, from different users, and mashed them together to make a perfectly seemless unique sound. Now, he's back with a perfect followup. He has taken random people performing Led Zeppelin 's "Black Dog" and mashed them all together do produce something only someone like Kutiman could pull off. It's great because the mix is perfect and, at the same time, lets [...]

New Black Dog vinyl out in August. Track 1 is Black Chamber Order , something on the IDM/techno borders but with enough synths to lift it to the ethereal. Quality. Track 2 is Bass Mantra, is a lesser, more primitive track. Listen here . Pre-order here . We are very proud to present the first 12″ of 2011 from The Black Dog, Liber Kult (1 Ov 3). This being the first in their Liber series of releases that are purely aimed at the dancefloor. These singles aim to complement their recent ambient [...]
