For Jonathan Segal's new movie, Norman , the director tapped looping violinist extraordinaire and indie singer-songwriter Andrew Bird to create the soundtrack . One of the publicity blurbs describes Norman as a movie about "a self-aware and darkly funny teen," which could mean the music goes with either an introspective hipster vibe or angst-ridden hard pop/metal. Andrew Bird recently scored the forthcoming independent film Norman . Bird will release the soundtrack to the movie on October 11 via Mom + Pop records. Portland's The Blow may have given us the side project of YACHT , but the two remaining members are indie rock stars in their own right. Usually artists are not keen on demos being leaked, as it, in a way, deteriorates the element of surprise and opinion to the track. However, for The Blow , this is not the case. They ( Khaela Maricic and Melissa Dyne ) released a video of Khaela putting her heels on and awkwardly posing while listening to herself. The track is not as catchy as any of the tracks from her previous release, 'Paper Television' which included YACHT's Jona Bechtoldt, but there's still room for growth.
