Wednesday, April 18, 2012 It's been over six months since the The Blurries, who are based out of Dallas, released their debut album, Paper Cuts, and played in Austin. This month they've posted a first video for the song, My Love Is A Fuse That Burns So Slowly, and they're returning to play in town this Friday at Skinny's Ballroom with No Future (formerly known as Leatherbag) and Gentlemen Rogues. Thursday, December 15, 2011 I cover local music for SOTO, so my end of the year-end list is Austin-focused (with a few exceptions). Wednesday, October 5, 2011 Gentlemen Rogues Fun, catchy guitar pop shouldn't have to be a guilty pleasure. It should be heartily enjoyed and make you shout along to the fist pumping "ohhh ooohs ooohs," especially in songs like Run From The Light, which is the newest tune from Austin quartet, Gentlemen Rogues. This song ticks off a few key points for me: pounding drum intro - check, dual ringing guitars with the just the right amount of crunch and volume - check, and a sing-a-long anthem [...]
