I know I promised the Notcraigcast last week, but it didn't happen I'm afraid. After last week's amazing Craigcast Neil and I were intending to introduce Craig to all sorts of modern music which we thought continued some of the traditions of the blues music he was describing to us, but circumstances have rather conspired against us unfortunately. Neil is off on tour with Meursault playing his songs, and Craig is off on tour with his liver, taking it around the watering holes of Edinburgh and giving it a good, hard kicking in each one. Consequently [...]
![Shallows A.D. - Alien Nation - A Deep Waste Productions [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1961521_lg.jpg)
Every reviewer dreads this e-mail (sent to me recently by a fellow reviewer): "Hey bud, I started a band! I'm sending you a copy, so be sure to review it ..." Better men have folded under the pressure. Me? I popped Alien Nation, which you can buy HERE , in like it wasn't curated by a fellow Skyscraper Magazine -- R.I.P. -- contributor (Matthew V to you) and rocked the-fuck out. Shallows A.D. possess a sound I just haven't been exposed to much lately. They play loud guitars [...]

In 2007, Brooklyn's Au Revoir Simone seemed to be everywhere. The trio of Heather D'Angelo, Erika Forster and Annie Hart had just put out The Bird Of Music to wide critical acclaim, D'Angelo guested on the also critically acclaimed Boggs album Forts and they found themselves playing shows with the likes of Air and Peter, Bjorn and John . But aside from a remix album, the trio has been relatively quiet on the recording side of things - until now. [...]
After the dissolution of The Boggs , Brooklyn natives Jason Friedman and Eleanore Everdell began their lives together as The Hundred In The Hands , one of the most promising bands we've been privy to hear since we began this website over three years ago. We mean it. What came about from their work together is a 7" single of "Dressed In Dresden" b/w "Undressed In Dresden", two complimentary songs that are more beautiful with each listen, a feat that too few (count on one hand, we assure it, that's it) acts are able to accomplish. The two [...]

While wading through the usual dozens of pointless press releases and email blasts today, I stumbled upon an email about The Hundred In The Hands . The band recently released its debut single, Dressed in Dresden . I don't know much about the band, but here's what I do know: Members used to be in some band named The Boggs Jacques Renault remixed the single, and has a weird video with old footage of African kids They have the worst band website I've [...]
I'd imagine reviews involving this band can be an invitation to engage in some brand of toilet humour. Well, I'm going to resist the temptation this time because the Boggs were actually called after a Bluesman and anyway 'Melanie In The White Coat' has swished through my brain with the antiseptic efficiency of an emergency room janitor. As you'd expect they come from Brooklyn (what bands don't

Like many of you out there, I'm enjoying GTA IV. Of course, one of the best things about the game is it's 'radio stations'. For it's last three incarnations GTA has been liscensing real world music which adds a whole new level vitality to the play IMO. There are quite a few good stations in IV, but my favorite by far is Radio Broker, DJ'd by Juliette Lewis. As tribute to that station, I'll be reviewing each of the tracks from that station, one a day. Where possible, I'll post videos, mp3's and other such links. [...]

We'll keep this brief because you've probably tired of the ever growing year end list. We're getting fatigued as well just trying to keep up and trying to sort stuff out as well. Seems every time we come across another list there is always something there to remind us of what we loved in 2007. We narrowed our fav songs down to 20! Yes 20! From an initial list of about 100 and still we're not quite happy with it. Wish we had more time, but time is something we just don't have. [...]
This week I am taking a break from the normal format to present some of my favorite things of 2007. My top 55 albums will be broken up into 5 days, but there will be other lists mixed in throughout the week. Enjoy and Happy Holidays! 55. Calvin Harris - I Created Disco (6/07) Listen to : Acceptable in the 80's ( mp3 ) 54. Patrick Wolf - The Magic Position (2/07) Listen to : Accident & Emergency ( mp3 [...]

This year I got ambitious and decided to jot some thoughts on every one of my 50 favorite songs (though about half of these blurbettes are quotes from earlier posts). Each song is so different and delightful in its own way that I couldn't rank them. You'll find the list in alpha order by song title. I'd love to host an mp3 for every one, I really would, but given bandwidth constraints, that's out of the question. So I tried to put up the songs that may be harder to find via Hype [...]
I know you're just dying to get into the fridge, pull out the tupperware, and make yourself a "moist maker". Make sure you put some cranberry sauce on it too, the kind that comes out of a can. I'm all turkey'd out, so you're not getting anything else outta me for the rest of the [...]

I'm hyped. I hope the rest of you are too about the second line-up announcement that is as follows: Silverchair, Spoon, Augie March, Brand New, Regurgitator, Anti-Flag, Karnivool, Carl Cox, Pnau, Kate Nash, Josh Pyke, beXta, Shy Child, Gyroscope, Enter Shikari, Operator Please, Unkle (live), Goodwill, Krafty Kuts & MC Dynamite, Die! Die! Die!, The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello acoustic), Blue King Brown, Dr Octagon with Kutmaster Kurt, British India, Aceyalone, Krill. And in preparation for the impending madness that will be BDO 2008, I've compiled a brief set of rules that if [...]

You have probably figured out by now, I like posting mixes. There are so many blogs out there that will give you the newest, latest & greatest tracks. I would rather culminate my favorites and... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]
