Niko Noir is a female rap artist from Los Angeles California with Iranian roots who contacted us through our submissions with her single "BRAkE" earlier today. We get a lot of submissions so it's hard to get a listen to all of them but I am definitely glad this one caught my eye. The track, "BRAke", is definitely going to be a bit unusual for some, but for those of you that dig tracks like Zebra Katz's "Ima Read", or anything coming out of the Raider Klan, "BRAkE" will be right up your alley. The beat is packed with eerie [...]

WZRD - Brake - download Kid Cudi is gearing to release the debut album from WZRD (aka Kid Cudi and Dot Da Genius) January 30 on his birthday. Cudder generously tweeted a free download link to the duo's guitar-driven tune "Brake" last night. The onetime rapper, current rocker/actor amped up his Twitter followers with the following announcement last night: "Ok so Im gonna just release a WZRD jam tnite, I cant wait any longer for you guys to hear this shit. Fixing it, gettin it right, stay [...]
Hip-Hop youngster, KiD CuDi, and electro rock group Dot Da Genius, have formed a little duo called W Z R D. I'm not 100% sure exactly how I feel about this particular collaboration. He has had success collabs with MGMT and Ratatat, so I have optimism. If you enjoyed Cudi's Man on the Moon II, then you will almost certainly dig this tune. You all should expect more from this duo in early 2012.MP3

It's been over three years since we were introduced to KiD CuDi's music. We broke away from the fandom of CuDi but still find interest in his latest projects. CuDi is teaming up with his longtime producer friend, Dot Da Genius, to release WZRD on January 30, 2012 (CuDi's birthday). The first track from the project premiered last night. WZRD will be a profanity-free rock infused album. From the sound of the first single, "Brake" is just that. Both Dot n CuDi are behind the productions this round. CuDi stated, "WZRD is [...]

Look, I don't have a lot to say about Kid Cudi 's previous forays into music because, while I was always impressed, I thought he had something else going on. I thought he was great on How To Make It In America on HBO. I saw him at the Red Bull Moon Tower at SXSW 2009 and that was fresh as I recall. But really, I began going through my own non-committal phase with hip-hop and so I didn't pay him much attention before he peaked, started fucking with liquid cocaine [...]
WRZRD (Kid Cudi & Dot Da Genius) - Brake New jam from Kid Cudi & Dot Da Genius' upcoming album WZRD . Look for that January 30th. What do you think? Kinda cool that Cudder is on the guitar. I gotta give dude a lot of credit for pursuing this rock band thing. Lyrics after the jump. drink the kool aid:
Kid Cudi's upcoming project with DotDaGenius (Cudi + DotDaGenius = WZRD) will result in a new album come January 30th. Apparently it's a "rock album" consisting of jams like this, with no profanity involved whatsoever. He couldn't wait to let the world in on some of their new music, so he let "Brake" go via Twitter tonight - not entirely up my alley (to be polite about it)... what do you guys think? In the third and final installment of Jessie And The Toy Boys' video blogs made while on the road with Britney Spears' Femme Fatale Tour , Jessie Malakouti and the gang make a pit stop at Walmart (or "Wally World") for some much-needed supplies — including a Justin Bieber poster? Watch below, babes in Toyland. Jessie works her self-described rock star Teletubby look with an orange onesie and sunglasses as she hops off the tour bus and strolls into a Walmart. The first item that catches her eye? A poster [...]

Back in May we brought you a track by Maria Lindén – otherwise known as I Brake Horses – called 'Hearts' . Well, since then, Chemical Brother Tom Rowlands – under the guise of R.A.R – has seen fit to remix the shit out of it and turn it into something quite wonderful. Listen to the track below.
While some festivals may be obsessed with netting big names like Arcade Fire and Kanye West, the End of the Road Festival has tapped a beloved indie act who has been on a "hiatus" since early 2009: Clap Your Hands Say Yeah . When we last heard from the Brooklyn-based outfit, they had announced a "long break," only to return three months later to perform a new song on Jimmy Fallon. But that was in 2009, and the band's frontman, Alec Ounsworth, announced a solo project shortly thereafter. [...]

This is a review for Brakes' debut album that I wrote back in late 2005. You can listen to a track from the album below. Need a 3-minute break from the rubbish that is modern life? Then, Brakes could be just the tonic for you. This is a band made up from a couple of defectors from the Electric Soft Parade (Tom & Alex White), a Tenderfoot (Marc Beatty) on leave and a splitter from British Sea Power (Eamon Hamilton) just shooting the breeze. With such gifted raw ingredients the resulting output was always going [...]
Canadian indie rock band Wolf Parade are going on indefinite hiatus. The band announced the news onstage in Toronto this past Friday.

Welcome to our longest ever post, and a whole bucketful of great songs. Last weekend, Barry-Sean came with me to the End of the Road Festival and outside of the musical orgy that is SxSW, we agreed it is the best festival we've ever had the pleasure of attending. In fact he's been writing about it ever since. Here's what he has to say.... Having arrived early on Friday afternoon (yes, we missed secret guests Mark Lanegan & Isobel Campbell on Thursday night due to a prior 5-a-side football engagement), and after popping up tents we headed [...]

Yeah it was the album with the best short funny songs ever. 'Give Blood' was also the first and last great record from Brakes (can't accept that stuttered name they gave themselves in order to conquer new territories) as it spun itself into a tizzy over 16 songs of unbridled madness. 'You're So Pretty' was the undeniable classic of the bunch (so beautiful, kinda 'Gold Soundz' in its application) but 'All Nite Disco Party' had the feel of a cult indie favourite in waiting. It was backed up by a clever video too so its absence from Friday night playlists [...]
