Checking in at Skull Alley tomorrow night is the Greensboro, NC band The Bronzed Chorus . They are a two-piece instrumental band that plays a blistering live set complete with tons of WTF-esque moments. Many of those moments come from Adam Joyce's monstrous guitar playing and mastery of one of the biggest pedal boards I've ever seen. Many of those other moments come from Hunter Allen's confounding ability to power out heavy drum beat while having his way with a keyboard and synthesized Atari. The duo's instrumental music is more than just post-rock. It certainly [...]

Their recent release is I'm The Spring from Hello Sir and they're knocking on everyone's door for the next few weeks from the Deep South on. So let The Bronzed Chorus in. [...]

Well, that day seems to have come with the release of their newest record, Uncanny Valley . The album was recorded completely with analog equipment and their [...]

Back in January, we put together a list of Ten Brooklyn Bands You Should Hear Right Now that began with a nepotistic rhetorical question: "is there even any doubt that Brooklyn circa 2009 fosters one of the most vibrant music scenes on this here planet?" The answer to that question, clearly, is that there isn't any doubt, Brooklyn sure does have its share of very fine, if almost entirely immigrant, resident bands. However, so do a lot of other parts of this here planet... Lest you fine folks think that EAR FARM focuses solely on the [...]
I'm back in the ATL now, so after I do a lot of catching up, I should be back to my regular summer blogging schedule soon. I'm going to post a lengthy chronicle of the entire three week experience sometime in the next few days, but until then, here are tracks from two really great bands that This Piano Plays Itself played with over last week that I highly recommend checking out: A Lull : Skinny Fingers A Lull Myspace [...]
