Aw, snap. It's time for a leisurely stroll down memory lane with Flashion Backward. Let's wander through UI's archives and see what ancient creaking box of treats lies in wait for our greedy pawing pleasure. Today we're chatting with Amy Ray, a woman for whom self-expression and tellin' it like it is is more than a way of life-it is her life. As 50 percent of the now-legendary folk-singing, guitar-strumming, artsy, vaguely fartsy Indigo Girls , Amy Ray has always managed to distinguish herself through solo albums (which are increasingly getting a more [...]

June is nearly over, and with that we shall celebrate LGBT Pride month (thanks Obama) , yes it's no longer just Gay Pride, which I think is awesome. Here in NYC specifically we've just ended Pride week , a week filled with marches, parades and parties all over the city. This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the catalyst for the modern LGBT rights movement. We are still fighting for equal rights but with more and more states allowing same sex marriage and with a democrat in office again, it seems likely [...]

Rol, at Sunset Over Slawit posted last week about a book that is going right on my xmas list this year, Chuck Klosterman's Fargo Rock City . One question that Rol takes from the book, is the mystery of why some girls (and women) actually like metal, or more specifically what Rol calls "glam metal" such as KISS, Poison, Thin Lizzy, Bon Jovi, etc... and I stumbled into the middle of a conversation on whether or not a particular Whitesnake video with a hot female model "having sex [...]

With the exception of the one Duffy track I've been playing all week, almost all of the songs are on the oldish side, and many of them date to the way outre millennial era. I was in a hurry leaving the house today and only had time to grab a wallet full of old mix CDs I made seven or eight years ago. There's actually four songs on here from a CD-R I made called 'The Best of 2001 (Jan-March)'. [...]
