Three darlings meet in Brooklyn and discover their love for harmony, lipstick, and each other! They sing everywhere...in line at the deli, in elevators and rooftop BBQs! Together with the help of famous producer Mr Sam (of the band Apollo Sunshine) they've created a unique sound reminiscent of the great girl-groups of yesteryear. MEET THE BANDANA SPLITS! The Bandana Splits formed this year when Annie, Dawn & Lauren met in Brooklyn and started singing together. They recorded their debut album at Saltlands Studio with producer Sam Cohen (of the band Apollo Sunshine) at the helm. All songs [...]

After a bit of a hiatus, Wild Weekend comes a-callin' again. Ready for issue 53? Right on and tally ho. This weeks harvest: a gospel scorcher, a garage blast and a soul gem, amongst others. Featuring no less than three songs from vinyl sources, so the purists among you have plenty reason to be proud of me. Make it a wild one, y'all. Let´s begin with a rather obscure bearded folkie: Gary Higgins. If you love his '73 masterpiece Red Hash like I do, you'll be pleased to [...]

Where Have You Been (Anenon Drone Mix) On March 1st, label Non Projects will be putting out their fourth official release in digital format, "Basic Climb, Re-Imagined"; a followup to Ana Caravelle's critically acclaimed debut album. It contains remixes by a wide array of some of today's most forward thinking artists. Currently up for download is Anenon's brilliant take on "Where Have You Been". Tracklisting 01. "Basic Climb" (Ana Caravelle Cover) 02. "Anti-Anxiety Pill" (a.d.l.r.'s Pills for Ana) [...]

This Anenon Drone Mix of Ana Caravelle's "Where Have You Been?" comes to us from the Basic Climb: Reimagined remix LP off Non Projects. The LA harpist/singer/songwriter's debut is restyled on Reimagined by such electronic heavyweights as Dntel and Take and on this "Drone Mix" Non Project's founder Anenon. There's an excellent building quality to the track with a payoff in the tune's final moments that is truly spectacular. Turn this heater way up. Ana Caravelle - Where Have You Been?

As a young teenager with eclectic music tastes, one of my favorite records was Tennessee Ernie Ford's tribute to coal miners, "Sixteen Tons." (Video below.) Of course, I wasn't the only one who found a lot to like about that song - after all, it rocketed to the top of both country and pop charts - but the "B" side of the record also provided an interesting story. I had that record and played it constantly, but mostly the "A" side. Still, I must have listened to the reverse side fairly often because Ol' Ern's version [...]

Well, stone me! - I've posted ten versions already, and have around twenty left, including today's offerings by Nancy Sinatra et al. It's interesting how often the song is played as a live encore, & of course the lyrics do fit that very well, in part at least. You might be going home with someone else, but while I'm on stage - You Belong to Me . We'll start with a splendidly upbeat version by Nancy Sinatra, from the "Bubblegum Girl" compilations, but presumably the same recording as the 7" single release on Reprise [...]

More reckless fun from a whole host of long lost garage classics; a dash of snotty ragged rockers with just enough melody to make 'em stick. Enjoy! [MP3] The Great Society - You Can't Cry Another great track from San Francisco's The Great Society. A laid back groove that pops into a burst of drums and guitar on the chorus. Disaffected garage at its best right here. [MP3] The Caravelles - Lovin' Just My Style A real stomper [...]
