The Seedy Seeds are always busy touring or creating new music for us to consume. Seriously, it seems like they always have something new up their sleeves. Well, they participated in a pretty cool collaboration with The Winter Sounds to cover a great Neutral Milk Hotel song "King of Carrot Flowers Pt.1." The video comes to us from Off The Avenue, a web TV series produced by North Avenue Studios Inc. More videos from Off The Avenue here . The Seeds did another song, "Ethel" for Off [...]

Landlady by Young Mammals

Genre: quirky lofi bedwrooom folk Short and really entertaining record. It's as colorful and toxic, lovely and deadly as the cover suggest. Experimental collages and sound effects paired with nice lovely folk songs. Really enjoyable. Check Rabbit Lullaby Pt. II and Flood! 8/10 [ This is the summary, read the whole story on Website ]

One of my favorite bloggers, Joanna Goddard recently wrote a cute little blog post, asking readers about their first kiss . Mine was at the ripe old age of 16 (or maybe it was 15?), with a boy who lived down the street (convenient) and had a car and a driver's license before I did (even MORE convenient). It was totally awkward. I have yet to meet anyone whose first kiss wasn't awkward. The first time you do stuff — and I don't mean stuff — it's not unusual for things to get awkward. Like [...]

About a year ago, I took a trip to New Orleans — home to every delicious food vice imaginable. What surprised me, however, was a random little juice shop by my friend's house off of Magazine Street. It was one of those swelteringly-hot, everything moves slower type of Southern days, and in our usual fashion, my friend and I chose to spend most of the day walking around. Typically, I can walk for hours and hours before I start feeling the need to sit down, but when the backs of my knees began to sweat and I had [...]

The lovely as always Bluesbunny has written a nice little piece about my new EP 'O - part two of L.O.V.E' and given me four carrots to snack on! Thanks Bluesbunny! " O - Part Two of L.O.V.E" by Sofia Talvik is, as the title suggests, the second part in a series of fan funded EPs by one of the most affecting Swedish singer songwriters to cross the threshold here at Bluesbunny Towers. It could easily be said that there are no surprises here but you [...]

Do you keep in touch with your high school friends (if you're out of high school)? I sure do. In fact, I think my high school friends are pretty great. I group them together as the 'high school friends' even though we all didn't necessarily hang out in high school. Over the years, though, we've [...]

When you are a wordy person, there is an expectation that you should always know what to say. Wordy people know how to write a thank you card, a Maid of Honor speech, an anniversary toast and a condolence letter. Wordy people can be inspired, but they can also write the appropriate thing without any [...]

My name is Geoff, an host of SomaCow, and I am trying to teach myself how to not be a psychotic eatbeast. I'm still pony. That's a little horse. The cold that I had has metamorphed to this wheedling thing, and I will be happy when it leaves here with its mucus and its itchy throat and its hazy, almost-but-not-quite sneezing. In the meantime I am putting in some longer days at work, which requires that I leave the house at 5:30 am and get home at 7:30 pm. I've [...]

Jack's Cosmic Dogs is one of the places that I truly from when I lived in Charleston, SC. Even as a humble vegetarian we would visit for the excellent french fries, and the almighty Bunny in a Bun. Now as a more experienced food enthusiast I was willing to try the Cosmic Dog, a hot dog with blue cheese cole slaw, and Jack's very own sweet potato mustard. It was totally awesome, but oddly enough it fell short to the Bunny in a Bun, which [...]

YOUNG MAMMALS Another fantastic blogger, who goes by the name Fokkewolfe , passed me on the streets near Recommender Towers, (literally in person, with no internet required or anything!!), and whilst discussing our favourite topic of new music he suggested that we point The Recommender's attention towards this four piece band from Houston, Texas. It's helpful conversations like this that reinforce our faith in our network, whether we chat in person, or online. On this note, our alliance of music bloggers just received a boost, as we were inducted into the Strangers In Stereo blog collective; a hand-picked elite team of 25 of the world's sharpest [...]

Here we go! As always, there is some arbitrariness. The list is of 116 songs, but not for any particular reason. And it's not definitive, it's a list of songs I love the most: no more than one from each band, in order. They're all really, really good. 116. Shearwater - Leviathan , Bound This is for the kind of person that would rather swim with sharks than dolphins, and be confronted with the terror of physical beauty. 115. The [...]

The Carrots, another great band from the Elefant label, is for me the new Pipettes, every time I listen to their music, the instantly cheer me up, so if you're in need of a cheer up, try a carrot! And even if you're as happy as one can be, still listen to this, to celebrate your happiness! The group is formed in Austin, Texas this summer, thanks to a Myspace bulletin put out by Veronica Ortuño in which she sought people to form an American 60's girl band. The result?, four people from diverse musical backgrounds. Summer, 2006, their [...]
The Carrots are a 60s inspired girl (and 2 guys, I think) group. I got hip to them only recently and only because the singer for YellowFever plays keyboards with them. I grew up listening to Motown with my mother so I kind of love/kind of hate this resurgence. The Carrots fall on the love side for me. They do what they're doing very well. I'm guessing because what they do feels authentic; it feels real and not manufactured. That has everything to do with the fact that it's coming from the heart. I can totally get behind that. [...]
