This was due to be a Friday Bangers post, but time just slipped away from me yesterday evening, like grains of sand falling through an hourglass, steady and unstoppable. Unless you turn the hourglass over. Right, less of these crap analogies and on with the music. For this post, I didn't ask any of the contributors to supply text with their tracks, so I'm going to make up things they might have said. OK, the first tune is picked out by Dom Brogan . It's the Fake Blood remix [...]

The Cast of Cheers – 'Animals' (from Family , out June 18 th on Rough Trade ) Intricate and bouncy indie pop from Dublin. This track vibes with an insouciant take on the meaning of life & love – if the forthcoming album has more gems like this, it could easily make some indie rock critics' top 20 lists. Yards – '1' Expansive and evolving instrumental post-rock built on dreamy piano riff – side project [...]

"Expectations for the album? We hope it makes people dance." With the UK slipping once again into recession, worrying itself silly over the upcoming Olympics and continually being let down by politicians cosying up and whoring themselves out to big business, it is comforting to know that nearby, quite hop over the Irish Sea in fact, that there is a group of young upstarts that just want to make people dance. Armed with their debut album Family , a jerky collection of guitar-pop due out in June, Dublin's The Cast of Cheers have [...]

Family by Irish four-piece The Cast of Cheers was one of the first singles to really catch our ears at the start of this year, being an infectiously raucous slice of indie-rock that mined a similar vein to Howler or Spector . Ahead of the release of their first proper debut album later in the year, the band are releasing Animals , another rousing, raucous monster of a track which nimbly hopscotches between delirious guitar loops, jackhammer synths and anthemic vocals to create a white knuckled rollercoaster of a ride in its [...]
The folks behind Babysweet Sessions, the masterminds who filmed Two Door Cinema Club's 'You Think You Know...' behind the scenes documentary for the deluxe version of 'Tourist History', have outdone themselves in their directorial leaning for the Cast of Cheers ' 'Animals' video. Inventive. Click here to view the embedded video.

A sweet intersection of the friscilating guitar arpeggios of Foals and the slam-along shouts of We Were Promised Jetpacks comes the The Cast Of Cheers and their top-of-the-room single, "Animals". The melody dodges itself along a modulating and instantly memorable rise and fall, a mimic of the guitar and the pebbled bass line. Everything is set at angles, a sort of potential energy that

Irish trio The Cast of Cheers (great band name ey?) release their debut album proper on 18th June and as such have released cracking new tune Animals to lead the build up. It's a spiralling, sharp-toothed pop song that more than wets the appetite for Family , their Luke Smith, ex of Clor-produced full-length that will be released via School Boy Error/Co-operative Music. It's shaping up to be one of the treats of 2012, having garnered praise from the likes of Zane Lowe, Fearne Cotton and Huw Stephens. [...]
