Here we go! As always, there is some arbitrariness. The list is of 116 songs, but not for any particular reason. And it's not definitive, it's a list of songs I love the most: no more than one from each band, in order. They're all really, really good. 116. Shearwater - Leviathan , Bound This is for the kind of person that would rather swim with sharks than dolphins, and be confronted with the terror of physical beauty. 115. The [...]

Bonjour mon amis! C'est HazMat d'ici, et j'ai parlez en Francais parce que nous avon un tres bien tune pour vous! OK - enough of the French. What I'm trying to say is that we've been sent a rather fat little tune, that needs to be shared avec vous. It arrived in the form of a rather mysterious email which landed in our inbox a few days ago. The sender(s?) wrote nothing in the main body of the message, merely attaching a picture (above) and the tune (below). The sender goes by the name of 'Au Contraire' (which means 'on the contrary'), [...]

TDTH are made up of ex-members of The Chalets and Neosupervital and are tipped to have a really good year.

[I'm With Coco Mix] In Our Support Of Team Conan Just taking a second out of our break to go ahead and lend my support to the late night man with a bushfire on his head. I'm With Coco Mix (artist name leads to site and all songs are right click - save as) : Andrew Bird - Dr. Stringz Bikini - Tonight The Chalets - Nightrocker [...]

Welles Look at That A Mix for the 71st Anniversary of the War of the Worlds Radio Broadcast So the few of you out there nerdy enough to actually know the original broadcast date of Orson Welles' presentation of War of the Worlds realize I'm a few days late on this, and to the four of you out there, I say, "Oh well." Before podcasts, when TVs were still a thing of the Devil's, people sat around and listened to radios for entertainment. On whichever frequency you managed [...]
Hard Rock Hell is back for a third outing in Pontins, Prestatyn Sands in Wales on 04-06 December and because it's sold out, we've got five pairs of tickets to give away. FIVE PAIRS! FIVE! You could be watching heavy metal in a Pontins for FREE. Not bad. The bad news is that because it's sold out, there are no more chalets to give away so you'll have to find a B&B down the road (there are loads) or just sleep on the lawn outside ours. You can probably sleep in Hugh's bed if [...]
![[Rock Snobbery |:| A List]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1805288_lg.jpg)
[Rock Snobbery |:| A List] Referencing it because I can, Urban Dictionary defines a rock snob as "an especially irritating breed of tool." Yes - in life's tool box, rock snobs are right there next to the guy who thinks he's the Fonz. Even if they have a characteristically, well, snobby attitude, rock snobs are a proud subset the music community can't exist without. Rock Snobbery is a badge one should be eager to both wear and hide - like the STD badge for Girl Scouts. While being ahead of the curve and the [...]
When we last connected with Armstrong B.C.'s Cold Driven back in January, we learned they were writing their new album which was co-written with Dallas & Danny of Default and Johnny from Art of Dying. This upcoming week, they will be performing at the Opera House in Toronto, in the company of other esteemed bands; Youandie, The Manhatten Project, Travis Caine, Lost & Found, Scotti Styles, Kill Whitey and Patrick Carneiro. One band will be lucky enough to get a songwriting session with Joel Kazmi ( who has worked with Tea Party, NSnync, The Fray, David [...]
Talulah Does The Hula are to play Whelan's on April 26, with support from Sleep Thieves and Disconnect4. Named after a New Zealand court case and featuring former members of The Chalets and Neosupervital, Talulah Does The Hula are a sprightly quintet, whose mission is to get your booty shaking with their Spector-ish reverb, '50s harmonies, layered synth pop and jangly guitars. Tickets, priced €10 (incl booking fee), are available from WAV [lo-call 1890 200 078], City Discs, Road Records, Tickets.ie & Ticketmaster outlets. Related Kila for [...]
Dump loads of green dye into your local river, get gussied up in an overwhelming amount of green apparel, drink your weight in Guinness, regret that decision tomorrow morning and pop on this playlist: It's Saint Patrick's Day! Even if you aren't Irish, chances are you know someone who is, and it would be selfish not to celebrate their heritage, so we're here to help. Today is all about Irish beverages (car bombs, Guinness, Jameson), the color green, luckiness, shamrocks, general Irish pride, and of course, music about all of the above. Maybe that's not all today [...]

In Ireland now like a lot of the world is experiencing a massive re-adjustment. Life seems to be spiralling back to the 1980's at a fierce rate where unemployment was high, emigration dominated family life and money was scarce. However culturally Ireland was alive and kicking. The child of the 1980's produced many fine bands who are no more. Below are Delorentos and six more samples from recent bands who should not be forgotton. Leya - In Our Hands [ More info ] Label [Terry Sutton, Binzer, Simon Good, Shane Fitzsimons] - [...]

I love bands with a female singer like The Plague Monkeys, Alphastates or The Chalets. Joining this list is the band 'I Am Not Lefthanded'. I cannot recommend them enough. The band are Kathryn - Vocals/Guitar, Daniel - Vocals/Bass and Benji - Drums and have relocated to the Uk to make big ripples in a larger pond. I love how they have Roddy Doyle as an influence on their MySpace. The introduction on their website is so good I'll have to paste it here: "We don't play pop music, we don't write music for art's sake, we don't represent any [...]

Sun Studios! Instant cool in my book.... With a name like "Talulah Does The Hula", you gotta be good, right? You remember the news story around this, no? Well, not sure how I ran into this band, google searches don't bring up much about the band, they're not on Hype Machine and since getting permission from the band to share their songs with lucky you, Myspace changed their music player to a non-downloadable POS . So...I still had their songs on my hard drive, but I wish I could [...]

Or well to me at least. That's right! It's my birthday, and I've got better things to do. I wanted to include you all in the celebrations though, but seeing as I can't serve each and every one of you a piece of cake, it seems this mix will have to do. I thought I'd just post whatever and whoever the hell I wanted, because it's my birthday - hazaa! Nothing too related here (though the overall demeanor is uppity-up I think), just a mix of some great artists who are always a safe bet to buy a CD of. [...]

Ahhh summertime...for midwesterners & Swedes like Kip & Ceci, it probably means they can finally leave their ice-encrusted houses. For Arizonans & Floridians like myself & Keath, it means either scorching, arid heat or humidity that'll drown you in sweat. I'm not sure what it means for Mark, though when I visited London in May of '03 it was an interesting combination of cold rain in the mornings, and humid, hot afternoons. So maybe Mark is a little torn. Regardless of your climate, summer is usually representative of fun times. The daylight stretches late into the night and [...]
Musikkah Day Seven Muh-muh-muh-wha? [ Post ] The dualities post, a mix I've come to appreciate more and more ever since I resurrected it as a playlist on my iTunes. As you can imagine, this mix is a far cry from the last one, but I wanted to make sure Musikkah ended happily and with luuuurve. Shoving this to the end also allowed to me to insert one of the tracks from that movie Juno. Despite all that happy, the [...]
I don't think I can get by a whole day without doing it. Hell if I'm bored enough, I can do it to every person I walk by. Count, that is. What were you thinking? Ah! Ah! Ah! Alina, I stole one of your mix themes! It couldn't be helped; my favorite arithmomaniac Muppet, Count Von Count, reminded me just how "vonderful" numbers can be. So without further ado, here's take two - that's two, two takes! Ah! Ah! Ah! - on the numbers mix with Wonderful! Numberful! [...]
