It's been a rough few months for drummers. After the death of You Say Party's Devon Clifford in June, the drummer for The Charlatans (or The Charlatans UK as they're known stateside), Jon Brookes, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Brookes passed out during the band's September 15th set at Johnny Brenda's in Philadelphia, PA, and was discovered to have the tumor shortly thereafter. We reported last week that Charlatans drummer Jon Brookes collapsed during at show at Johnny Brenda's in Philadelphia on Wednesday night. After canceling their remaining U.S. tour dates, the Charlatans have announced that Brookes, having returned to the U.K., will be undergoing treatment for a brain tumor. The band thanks its fans for their support, and has also announced they'll be recruiting a "short-term replacement" for future dates while Brookes is away. The Charlatans UK , who played last night right here in Philadelphia, were on stage at local Fishtown favorite Johnny Brenda's.
