Houses have been very quiet since their debut album All Night (2010). They're one of my favourite ambient / electronic artist, and I had the pleasure of seeing them live last year in London. Finally there's some movement from within ... Continue reading

Almost into the top 10. But before that, The Chemical Brothers and Secret Knowledge just miss out. At #12, The Chemical Brothers are another act who had lots of claims for the 50/Fifty. But since there can be only one, this is where the buck stopped. With The Private Pyschadelic Reel from 1997. Now, I know a number of people would have gone for something like Grammy-award winning Block Rocking Beats or  Song To The Siren from 1992 (under their original Dust Brothers name), perhaps even suggesting I should have picked a [...]

The Chemical Brothers blow up The Charlatans and Autechre bring on their usual awkward approach. At #14, we have autechre. Sheffield's finest and most wayward electronic act - more here . Never ones for an easy life, their stuff veers wildly from the brilliant through the annoying all the way to the downright unlistenable. Anyone who tells you that they like all of autechre's work is either lying or a pseud. But when autechre get it right, they nail it. And the track to feature is 19942s Flutter . A totally danceable riposte to the [...]

Yet another example of EDM culture celebrity being put to use for a good cause. The upcoming âjumbleâ saleâotherwise known here in America as rummage saleâwas put together to raise money for abused women in the Democratic Republic of Congo. If I were going to be any place near Bethnal Green Working Menâs Club in London on Saturday January 26th from 12-6pm I would so hit this up. Whatâs not to love about the chance of scoring some vinyl donated by The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Erol Alkan and Friendly Fires. In addition to that, thereâs also a â90s [...]

Not to be forgotten amongst one of the best Field Day line ups to date, and an incredible Shore Thing on NYE, Future Music organised a sideshow to set the bar for the rest of 2013, One Night Only at Home last weekend. Featuring electronic extraordinaires Booka Shade, pioneers of dance The Chemical Brothers and finishing with Carl Craig in the main room, One Night Only quickly drew a crowd looking to catch missed festival sets, or re-live them in a more intimate club setting, and all three delivered shows that reinforced the hype leading up to [...]

As we reported last week , Gaspar NoĂ© â the man responsible for the French films Enter the Void and, shudder, Irreversible â has directed the video for the rather excellent new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds single "We No Who U R." The video is rather restrained by NoĂ©'s standards, but it fits the song beautifully, and it got us thinking about other well-known directors who've moonlighted in making music videos. There have been plenty over the years, some triumphant, some rather less so â so here's a selection for your viewing delectation! Marvel, [...]

Yep, it's yet another Twitter beef between high profile DJs/producers. This time we've got The Chemical Brothers ' Ed Simons in the red corner, calling out Tommie Sunshine in the blue corner. The veteran Simons toys with Sunshine by agreeing that Swedish House Mafia 's pop hit 'Don't You Worry Child' is an amazing piece of music, then gives him the uppercut just as he lets down his guard. Tommie then went on to say that "there is a place for all music in this world", before posting personal tweets to everyone who has influenced him [...]

Words: Alison Potter, Ced Yuen, Gabriella Shimeld-Fenn, Lauren Johnson-Ginn, Raman K, and Saam Das 2012 saw three of the highest grossing films of all-time: 'The Avengers' ( 'Avengers Assemble' in our fair land), 'The Dark Knight Rises' , 'Skyfall' . Each of which found critical favour. Each of which appears in our Top 25 Films Of 2012 - our top choices from films released across the UK in the last year. Read our list below, and feel free to suggest [...]

We have an [...]
If you're like us and basically everyone else in the world â unless you don't drink, in which case we're happy for you â you probably greeted 2013 with a fairly sizable hangover yesterday. There's a surprising amount of complexity to be found in waking up and feeling like shit after a big night out, and it's a subject that's been addressed by a host of songwriters over the years. So we thought we'd welcome 2013 with an exploration of musical renditions of the morning after the night before, from the quietly contented to the morbidly, morbidly hung over. We hope [...]
The Chemical Brothers don't often do freebies, so when they offer you one you should probably snap it up pretty sharpish. The Chems have had a fantastic 2012 with their live CD 'Don't Think' shortlisted for a Grammy, and, of course, the duo made a song for the London Olympics velodrome. Drop your email in the box below for the download of the mix, and you'll automatically be entered in a competition to win a rare vinyl copy of their Olympics song 'Velodrome' as well. Don't think, just download.
The Chemical Brothers have had quite as successful year for not releasing much music. Their (frankly astounding) concert film Don't Think got nominated for a Grammy, and they had the honor of composing an original track to soundtrack the Olympics cycling event. read more

With the whitewash of 'EDM' into mainstream America has come the perching of once relatively new-school Dance Producers into celebrity status. It shows with this years nominations filled with relatively youngin's Skrillex, Steve Aoki and Deadmau5 with some glimpses of the 'good' with Chemical Brothers up for a nom' with 'Don't Think' and Kaskades 'Fire & Ice'. In all honesty none of these records really stood out for me in the past year, nor many other releases... in my mind Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs  'Trouble' was up there, as was Hot Chips 'In Our Heads' [...]
Dance music's presence in last year's Grammy awards was undeniable, marking the first time a DJ had been nominated for the Best New Artist category. The DJs and producers who were big in our world had finally crossed over into mainstream relevance by way of Skrillex's five nominations and three wins . This year, Skrillex received three nods, each in the categories he won last year. Diplo's nomination for Best Producer is also an accolade that is long overdue. Only three highly-recognizable dance music artists were nominated in 2012, but this time around there's a much [...]
They're back! After a year-long hiatus (well, what would you expect with an end-of-year awards?) the Schönbys are here to shower glory all over the best musical aspects of 2012. The awards are a fictional vehicle for me to let you know what I've enjoyed listening to during 2012. Winners and nominations are drawn from music I have seen, heard or bought during the preceding 12 months. First up is single of the year. I find this category difficult to judge, mainly because the kind of track I would normally like doesn't always make the greatest [...]

We know you all love a good competition, but what if we told you we had a competition that was better than good? Yeah, now youâre interested arenât you? Well, what are you waiting for? Read on. As you are well aware, SUMMADAYZE is creeping closer and closer by the day and with it comes the memories of bright lights, big sounds and even bigger acts from previous yearâs instalments of the festival. (Tickets for the event are available HERE ) For 2013, the guys at [...]

Klaxons have revealed they are enlisting the help of a number of different producers as they continue work on a new album, one of which is The Chemical Brothers â Ed Simons. In telling BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe that the recording process for their third studio album has proved to be a âlearning curveâ for the band. Klaxons' bassist Jamie Reynolds â âWeâve worked with loads of different people, but itâs [...]

Although the saturation the colloquially known Moombahton has been enough (to me..), thereÂŽs always something that came that sounds alike, and worth to listen and to dance, like this MY BRAA remix to "Hey Boy, Hey Girl".He describes it as Cumbiaton, to me is Cumbia [...]
