"That's How Long" by The Chi-Lites is off the bands seventh album, Toby , produced by lead singer Eugene Record, and released in 1974 on the Brunswick label. By 1974, Brunswick had started to struggle financially so Toby was less heavily-promoted than the group's previous albums and fared less well commercially. It was the first Chi-Lites album since 1970 to stall outside the R&B top 10 (peaking at #12) and to miss the top 100 on the Pop listings. According to the Gary Post-Tribune, Joe Jackson charged the city of Gary, Indiana $5000 to grace them with his presence at Michael Jackson's memorial service in their hometown. Mayor Rudy Clay believes that the event honoring the late singer will bring a profit to the town once all donations are counted. While looking through the archives recently for a certain disc, I came across a self-made compilation entitled "Pure & Unadulterated Northern Soul: Volume 1". I remember that I had four volumes of this which I would use when DJing Northern Soul nights around Los Angeles. I also copied these discs for interested friends. I have to admit, most my experiences with neighbors have been either benign or horrible, not many have been the type to greet new residents with freshly baked cake, it's more along the lines of a reminder which trash cans are mine, to make sure to keep my garbage out of their bins.
