Today is a balmy 27°. Last night went into single digits, but I'm not complaining. This has been too warm a winter to warrant any complaints. Not only that but it's already mid-January, and we haven't had any snow. I guess my sled will stay in the cellar for a while longer. I crave color. The world is just so drab after Christmas. Dead leaves hang on the branches, and the tall brown trunks of pine trees stand silhouetted against a muted blue sky. Here and there people still have Christmas lights lit every night, and I appreciate [...]
Yesterday reached over 60°. It was an absolutely gorgeous day filled with warmth and sunshine. Today is no slouch either. The temperature is already 45°. I didn't see a winter coat all morning when I went to breakfast. The nights are in the 302s but it is, after all, winter. The last of Christmas is disappearing as I write. The outside lights are coming down and being stored away until next year. I will miss the star most of all. It was bright and beautiful and had a tail of 5 strands of lights. It stood tall above [...]
Australia's Little Red took the challenge presented by music site AV Club and covered the holiday tune 'Christmas Lights'. Turns out this song - not the Coldplay one released in 2010 - is also by an Australian by the name of Neil Gray. Who knew? Little Red covers "Christmas Lights"

Today I've got something a little bit different, in spirit of the holidays. Now some Americans take putting up Christmas lights a little far, but now I've got an insane show, choreographed to Skrillex - First of The Year (Equinox) , which has the epic music video if you missed it. The outcome is pretty epic, and destroys any Christmas light show I've ever seen. Sit back, be amazed, wish you had a $5000 electric bill at the end of the month, enjoy!
It's been a few weeks since we've done any reflecting, but now we're back to our regularly scheduled reflection. The first week of December is over, and 2012 is just around the corner, but there was still quite a bit of metal happenings this week. Here is what you missed: At the beginning of the ...
Sorry for the rather late start today, but Skip, my factotum, is here to put up the outside lights, and I am periodically called outside to check progress and to see if everything is in the right place then when the spotlight blew I had to go to the store to buy another one and some new garlands for the fence. Last year there was enough garland to span the fence but it seems to have disappeared over the summer. My artificial tree, the ugliest scrub pine you ever saw, is now up in the dining room. Over the summer, [...]
Today is still warm but cloudy and lifeless. I don't even see the birds at the feeders. The animals, as usual, are having their morning naps. I showered, read the papers, gathered my Thanksgiving decorations to put away and got caught up in my book for a while, but I disciplined myself to stop to get busy with Coffee. I have several errands today so Gracie and I will be around town for a bit. She's always up for a ride. Christmas lights are up all over. I noticed them the other night. I think it has to [...]

NOAH & THE WHALEMTIB likes Noah & The Whale... well actually MTIB like likes Noah & The Whale in an elementary school sort of way. Naturally, our fondness for this band has has inspired us to share their latest track, "Wild Thing", with you. It is in stride with the sound of their last album in terms of upbeat-ness and uplift-ability. Enjoy the song as well as the two words I've apparently just
AUDIOVISUALS/// Coldplay - Christmas Lights First new material in just over two years turns out to be well worth the wait. Even if it was only really announced last week. A song in two parts, it's an interesting glimpse of what the band have been up to. The new album is very definitely due next year, and while this won't be on it, it proves that two years away from the spotlight hasn't affected them at all. This is very good, and not just for a Christmas single.
Coldplay offers the brand new visuals for their new holiday single entitled, "Christmas Lights". The video is directed by Mat Whitecross.

Tired of all the Christmas covers playing on the radio and at the mall? B-Sides fave, Coldplay, have put out a new holiday single to keep things bright and cheerful, titled "Christmas Lights". The song was announced for release back in November 24 with a curious little statement that the song is written "in the key of G". Possibly referencing an old lawsuit? The band released a behind-the-scenes video while making "Christmas Lights" which you can watch below. Here's "Christmas Lights" by Coldplay Behind the Scenes

Chris Martin should have no problem with snow this year, the UK has already been uncharacteristically pummeled with the stuff, including our beloved St. Andrews. This delightful video was filmed in London last month for the new Coldplay Christmas song 'Christmas lights,' which debuted on iTunes today. God bless ye merry gentlemen. Check out the [...]
Coldplay debut "Chrismtas Lights" today via Vevo Video and itunes. Also, see behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the video for Coldplay's new single, Christmas Lights. The track is released at 8pm GMT on December 1st. Coldplay - Christmas Lights

Gotta give it up to Chris Martin & co. "Christmas Lights" is great. It has all those components that make for good holiday music, feelings of nostalgia, feelings of warmth, and feelings of familiarity. "Christmas Lights" sounds familiar, probably cause it is, after all, Coldplay. "Christmas Lights" feels warm, it feels like a reminder. I put the tune on earlier for the first time, and I can't front, I was skeptical I thought Coldplay doing a Christmas single, how many times shlocky will this end up being. But by the fifth or sixth listen (I had lost count), I was [...]

So it's that time of year when all manner of groups release their Christmas singles. Lets us be honest with each other here - most are naff. Now whether it's just because it's good to hear C hris Martin et al break their studio silence or because it is actually snowing outside my window as I write this is beside the point - I genuinely like this one. It builds, shifts and wriggles away from what it starts out as. It's good to hear Coldplay again. This [...]
