Once again I find myself with an overwhelming amount of solid MP3's on my desktop that I don't think I could ever find enough time to get around to giving each the proper review that they deserve. My best option is probably to start doing Licorice Pizza -style mailbox clearing posts every Thursday. Just throwing it out there, let us know what you think. Highlights for me this time around include Blackalicious member Gift of Gab's new solo release, pyschadelic duo Sunbears! who's show we saw at Granada a few months back and [...]

Atlanta-based The Coathangers are coming to Louisville's Cahoots on October 10th with Louisville phenoms. The tour is in support of their April release Scramble . which received a respectable 7.2 from Pitchfork . Burn to Shine Atlanta slated for possible fall release

1. Knives and Forks. Apparently sales of knives are half those of forks in the UK at the moment. This has been attributed to the rise in ready meals, which come chopped into nice easy little bits, presumably because they think you've got flippers for fucking hands and can't cut up your own food. Either that or they have no confidence in your ability to use utensils properly and fear lawsuits from people who accidentally stab themselves in the back of their hand with a fucking fork whilst trying to eat their dinner. But [...]

This is a mixtape I made sometime last year. It's rather (er, very) silly but it was fun to make. I'd all forgotten about it but was reminded when I realized that my oldest niece is already a young teenager. Not that she's a brat! Well maybe sometimes... The Coathangers, Can Can and Judi Chicago play the Earl tonight
Three short months ago, the Japandroids were ready to embark on their first major US tour. The venues were locked (including a performance at Sasquatch! Music Festival), and tour bus was packed and ready to go. Then singer/guitarist Brian King literally went and broke his leg. There was a caveat; the broken leg wasn't the main issue. It was also discovered that he had a potentially life threatening perforated ulcer. Just like that, the tour was canceled. As King went down with a bum leg, their album Post-Nothing was prepping for a digital/vinyl release [...]
