Death Trap Photography If it's mid-June and my lanyard collection has grown by one, it can only mean one thing - NXNE is again upon us. And that means this is yet another weekend I won't get to indulge my fondest fantasy - to sit around and do nothing - and that it's time for another dog's breakfast of a festival preview post. It's a little bit of my own schedule, a bit of what my schedule might be if not for what my schedule actually is, a bit of what's piqued my curiosity [...]

Reviews of Franz Ferdinand, Grizzly Owls and The Craft Economy As you've likely already noticed, I haven't had a lot of time for posting this week. Work has been quite busy (which is a good thing) and Canadian Music Week / Fest is well under way. Saw a great show on Wednesday night, another one last night and will likely be doing so again this evening. Reviews and pictures and whatnot will be posted steadily over the next week or so, but in the meantime, here are a few brief words on some of [...]

It doesn't get much more fun than Toronto's own The Craft Economy . They manage to take insanity to a whole new level with their brand of 80's tinged new wave post punk party music. Their new EP is currently in the process of being pressed, printed and released to the public but in the meantime, they have two new songs available for your listening pleasure. This time I'll start at night's end and work my way back. The last time that I saw The Craft Economy was back in December when I was incredibly enthused about checking out Amos The Transparent and the excitement from having seen them must have overshadowed any [...]
Modeling the new Grados and flirting with Phil. Tart. What a strange but affecting little accumulation we have today. Classics, newbies, newbies by classics, space cadets, a b-boy. Best just to listen, I think. (Some visitors have wondered how many different ways I'll contrive to say nothing. You have no idea, my unknown buds. I have not yet begun to say nothing.) The Charlatans - You Cross My

So, I'm trying to figure out what to do tonight. There's a number of options, all appealing, and all conveniently (or inconveniently, depending on your point of view) located essentially on the same (large) city block. First off, and this is the one that's been on my calendar for a while so it's probably got the inside track, there's Vampire Weekend at the El Mocambo. If I were to be influenced by the local entertainment weeklies then this would be the one to see since both NOW [...]
