The Craters put a new album out recently and I think it holds it's own pretty well. Teenage High School is invariably different than the last album , but in a more mellow way than expected. The last album was chocked full of energy and pop, where as this time around the songs sort of slouch back in their seats and hum. Don't get me wrong the humming is great and there are some gems in there for sure, it's just a rather abrupt change and it may take a minute to get used to. It's [...]

The Craters dropped their 10-track Breakfast of Champs cassette debut, Teenage High School , yesterday and I'm way enthused on it. From what I've heard so far the tunes strike a sense of familiarity, forming these new beats and catchy vocal melodies that feel like something I've been bobbing my head to for years. It feels really great, like turning psych pop into something your parents might actually dig. You can pick up some of their older tunes from Cooling Pie Records for free or by donation right here or cop our recommended [...]
mp3: The Craters - Cool Enough For School The hits just keep coming from Breakfast of Champs . They sent me over a sneak peak of The Craters new cassette Teenage High School today. It's picture-perfect toe-tap-inducing bedroom pop, with my favorite track being the aptly titled "Cool Enough For School." You can order the cassette via BoC (fresh off the press today) for a measly $6. The Truman Peyote/Turtle Ambulance 7" should be [...]
The Craters are the project of Wes and Jared out of Newton South, Mass. whom handcraft jangly cuts that practically manifest in themselves an early morning sunrise on a country cabin porch. I suppose you could place this band with the recent-flooding of bands into the "chillwave" genre though I always hesitate on placing bands into trite genre-labels. The raddled loops The Craters create are oscillating bits of gold that rarely adhere to a form song-to-song and hint at a much promising future for this band. The two songs below are very fresh-baked and are to be collected together [...]
The Craters - Cool Enough For School The Craters are Wes and Jared, a duo from the increasingly exciting Boston area where they're pals with some of our other faves like Truman Peyote , Easyboy and Turtle Ambulance . Word is they're wrapping up a new EP from which this track is taken, along with "Weekends or Not" (stream over here ), which was cut up and sampled, providing the crystalline sunshine soundtrack for "Weekends or Not". Throw in a few bassy synth punches, a minimal drumbeat and a [...]

The blog let-them-rock is:::=Famous ladies prancing around in designer outfits vs. models prancing around the runway in the same designer outfits. The fun starts when:It's clear that the celebs have chosen the XXL version of a piece instead of the runway XS one,the greedy celebs have copied a whole runway-outfit/look right down to the nailpolish or just couldn't take the look out in the real world(despite all their glitz n' glamour efforts).A Very simple and a very addictive combo. The Craters- With You or Near You

One of the great things about having a music blog is that people send me links and mp3s all the time. It's a great way to hear about new stuff since as I get older I'm not getting any less lazy. Wait, was that a double negative? Anyways, you get the point, which is that I got an email from this band The Craters who is from a suburb called Newton near Boston. I used to hang out from time to time and it kind of freaked me out. Then I realized it was really good and now [...]

Ready for the four hippest bands this fall? Instant cred, go! The Band: Miracles of Modern Science The Single: MR2 Miracles of Modern Science (or M.O.M.S) might look on first appearance like just another space-rock bluegrass band. But actually, they play really fucking catchy pop songs that call to mind vintage Andrew Bird or Final Fantasy. [...]

I couldn't find much of anything about the Craters . Who are they, and why did they decide to make records? What I think I know: they put our music on the Cooling Pie micro-label out of Brooklyn. The picture on their MySpace suggests there are three members (one of which is kinda cute, despite looking kinda like jailbait). These are songs from their Kissing/Samba Party double EP. Fans of Caribou (formerly Manitoba) and Tortoise take note. The Craters - Kissables [...]

The Craters have a double EP out. One is original material the other is a pastiche of samples, or so I understand. Kissing sounds like a slower Animal Collective stuck in Beck's apartment with a guitar, a tape recorder, electronic drums, and a library of awesome sound effects. My favorite off Kissing is With You Or Near You which is a bit tricky to place. It sounds a bit Berlin, like something Apparat or Ellen Allien may cook up. But it sounds Radiohead or Beck as well. As it goes on it starts to drift more into [...]
