This track has been lingering now for a bit, just trying to figure out the perfect time to post it. The Dan Block Remix of it is great with just enough mellow and upbeat attitude mixed together to make the Sunday mood feel like Saturday night is still lingering. I love the lyrics because they personally speak to me in such a way that I can really connect and its saying all the things I am thinking. I think that love is initially the message here, but I think there is a much bigger message as well. Most [...]

MP3: Geoffrey O'Connor - So Sorry (Chet Faker remix) Geoffrey O'Connor's debut solo album, Vanity Is Forever , really capitalises on the potential he's always had to sound breathy and sensual, but this remix - from fellow Melburnian Chet Faker - explores a different aspect of romantic song. Chet Faker takes the original 's noir-ish '80s pop-rock forward ten years in time and, in the best possible way, evokes the particular brand of downtempo sensuality made popular by the Cafe Del Mar series. It's brilliant to hear those cold, dubby [...]

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Long have we lauded the sounds of Crayon Fields , the wonderful Australian pop group, but now we have more reason to cheer, as singer Geoffrey O' Connor steps outside the band, releasing his first album under his own name. If anything, Vanity is Forever , establishes O' Connor as more than your average songwriter; his apparent gifts are too great to label him anywhere near average. From the moment "So [...]

It's since been announced that Geoffrey O'Connor (of The Crayon Fields), who maybe you caught at Popfest earlier this year , will open that tour. Both of [...]

MP3: Geoffrey O'Connor – Whatever Gets Me To You Real great post-80s romanticism on this jam from Crayon Fields frontman Geoffrey O'Connor , who's dropping his solo debut Vanity Is Forever on September 27. It seems kind of improbable that Geoff is so into this vibe of 70s & 80s seduction anthems, with their ultra-dramatic string sections and robotic synths; he's got such a sweet, naive sounding voice, but I guess the proof is in the slinky, sensual result. Damn you Pitchfork! Your big name status always gets you the singles first! Well, that's okay, just because you got there first doesn't mean I can't continue to express my adoration for Geoffrey O'Connor of the Crayon Fields . I met Geoffrey years back when he played at our showcase, and I was grateful that we were able to have a show featuring one of my favorite acts. Now, he's got some time, and with that, he's crafted a solo record titled Vanity is Forever [...]

We worked with the guys in Chapter Music to bring the excellent Crayon Fields to our SXSW show a few years ago, so I always like to keep track of what the label has going on. They're about to release A Fool Who'll by songwriter Laura Jean on September 3rd, and I'm sure they'd be happy to send you a copy via the old fashioned mail. Jean's playing a somewhat muted guitar, quietly whispering "im missing you" to begin the [...]

What? You haven't heard of Hit the Jackpot ? Well, we've got you covered. The group hail from Australia, and they're lined up with the excellent people over at Chapter Music , home to ATH favorites The Crayon Fields . They're about to release a cassette with CM, but it's going to be super-limited, so us US folks might find it hard to get our hands on it, but that doesn't mean we can't head over the band's site and give it a listen. [...]
Melbourne's Crayon Fields make the kind of music that never threatens to be anything more than some of the most peaceful compositions you will ever hear. They take you away to a quiet mid April day with your opposite laying in the tall meadows. This is a video for their track, "Where The Light Isn't Cruel". Made by a fan who obviously has a deep affection for these previously mentioned peaceful things, the video is set perfectly to the soothing sounds of the bands. I need this kind of music right now. Geoffery O' Connor from [...]

School of Seven Bells @ Santos Party House, NYC: photo by Michael Ligon For the record, let's wrap up my fifth and final day in NYC and CMJ, which took place over a month ago. Perusing some of the notes I jotted down in my iPhone, time and datestamped 2 am on October 24, I wrote: "Today it was Broadway and back to Williamsburg, Brooklyn for the Brooklyn Vegan day party and wandering, the back to the Lower East Side to the Cake Shop, a walk on the Queens [...]

Just a little something to lift your Thursday spirits. Opulent Sounds , from Australia dropped this lovely remix of Crayon Field 's in my inbox. He describes it as indie dance on acid, maybe because of the moogs, but I find it quite calming. A nice little come-down track, especially after a hard day's work. Melbourne'i bändid Crayon Fields ja Opulent Sound pole veel Austraalia suurte asjade nimekirja ega postkaartidele jõudnud ja proovivad nüüd kahekesi koos. Tublid. The Crayon Fields - All The Pleasures of The World (Opulent Sound Remix) ( mp3 )

Crayon Fields finished their US tour and are back on homeland, and we truly miss them. I got a chance to play with these kids for one night here in California and they put on a great show and got all the hearts thumping. I hope they make it back soon. They sent over a wonderful remix that will make anyone in Ray-Ban's break out dancing. All I want for Christmas is a new Crayon Fields album.
