Sadly not a cover of the Elbow tune, thankfully something just as fanciful. 'Mirror Ball' was to be released as a 7" earlier this year on Chapter Music but even a bout of extensive googling could not throw up anything confirmative (though they seems to have connected with the Passport label ). Regardless, this is a perfect slice of indie pop, gently tailored with melodies that hang in the perfumed air. The Crayon Fields (I should probably be dropping the 'The' but it doesn't seem clear what their preferences are…shutup) appeared here a couple of years back [...]
Both play this Friday 9 PM @ Odessa Pop in Tallinn, club "Juuksur" (Vaimu 1). Crayon Fields - Living So Well Motifs - Set of Wheels

This Melbourne, Australia group has been on my mind a lot lately, and it was recent brought to my attention that they released a new single not too long ago. I had to have it, and I had to bring it to your attention; here is the newest tune from The Crayon Fields , who are set to release another album later this year. We'll keep you posted on that front. Just what the world needed, me talking about music, instead of writing about it. For some sycophantic reason, I've been wanting to do a podcast for a while and well, I've finally I gone and done it. It's racked with uhms, ahhs and mistakes, like when I say that the British Sea Power brothers are in the Brakes. I'm too lazy to go back and fix it to say that it's the Electric Soft Parade Brothers. I'm sure you guys could care less anyway, mistakes are punk rock, no? We're keepin' it real and raw, no second takes going on [...]

Hey guys, here's the 2008 Let's Sexy Fighting Christmas mix! Like last year, many of our favorite artists have written holiday songs, intentionally or by accident...doesn't matter to us though. Song The Crayon Fields ~ " Mirror Ball " myspace plays: 2,042 mp3 download (via pitchfork ) The Crayon Fields are out of Australia. There is something about the music and Geoff O'Connor's voice that creates a very cool retro-pop sound. Their album ~ All The Pleasures In the World is due out soon, but until then the Mirror Ball 73 should help shorten the wait. [...]
Geoff O'Connor is the frontman in two excellent bands: Crayon Fields and Sly Hats. In almost every article written about him he is described as a "myopic boy genius", which is an unbelievable retardedly annoying description. Anyway, Geoff rules. We asked him 10 questions: 1. What's your thing? Music. 2. Where do you see your thing in five years? Hopefully in films. 3. When you're feeling playfully sophisticated yet nonchalant, do you put on a Crayon Fields album? Definitely. You'd [...]
Don't get it twisted: Mirror Ball is the Neil Young album with Pearl Jam, Mirrorball is the Sarah McLachlan live album with "I Will Remember You", and "Mirror Ball" is a promising new single by Australian indie-poppers the Crayon Fields . From forthcoming All the Pleasures in the World , this latest "Mirror Ball" sets the incongruously shy vocals of singer Geoff O'Connor (also of Jens Lekman-approved side project Sly Hats ) into the kind of soaring love song [...]
The Crayon Fields – Mirror Ball This is the first taste of the Crayon Fields new album, All The Pleasures Of The World , due out next March and thank god we have the Crayon Fields to check in every now and then and remind everyone how to effectively deploy a tambourine. Fuck, sometimes these guys are just TOO good. There's the perfectly double-tracked vocals, the world's best ever guitar sound (FACT) and then, in the chorus, just when you're starting to get a little worried about a fey overload, Geoff O'Connor drops [...]
by stos I came across this song in my iTunes library. Sketchy title - but beautiful piece. Makes you want to go back in time and do some waltzing! (in a haunted castle) I love the singers voice and the precussion - short, sweet, and memorable. Enjoy. CHOIR OF TINY BOYS BY THE CRAYON FIELDS:
You just can't beat a twee bit of indie pop. Descendants of the Beach Boys and masters of the glockenspiel the Crayon Fields are that rare breed that follow in the same vein as the Boy Least Likely To but whose audio alcopops never taste icky after several servings. Led by Geoff O'Connor the Melbourne quartet sound remarkably young yet they have 5 years playing together behind them already. '

Our friend Marathon Packs posted a little " Midterm Mix " of some of his favorite things from 2007 so far, and there's some good stuff scattered in there, including Bonde Do Role, Panda Bear, Deerhunter, and more. He also mentions Melbourne's the Crayon Fields , and coincidentally, we've been digging their Animal Bells record quite a bit lately. Here's the album opener, on which the band is very plainly trying to sound like Odessy & Oracle -era Zombies, and they do a pretty [...]
Ici on ne parle que de groupes américains. C'est écrit ci-dessus : a cosmic american music blog. Hormis pour les cosmic french group, je ne fais aucune exception. Sauf aujourd'hui. Car Living So Well est une chanson assez géniale pour que je fasse une entorse à la règle. Elle est l'oeuvre d'un groupe australien répondant au doux nom de The Crayon Fields. Je vais bêtement les comparer à un des
What I love about doing this part, is taking the time to recognise amazing records that have in some way made my year. I had no trouble compiling my list together but I did have trouble placing them in positions; which I still don't believe in because I'd like to think each of them are in top position in their own different ways; genre wise and what else have you not. It's also the time where I can give considerable mentions to new discoveries I have found but never found the time to make a post about because I was [...]

I bought this record to prepare myself for a gig I never went to. But despite the disappointment of missing this such gig, at least I managed to get something positive out of the whole experience. For this debut effort from Melbourne group The Crayon Fields is a treat. I laughed when I put it into iTunes and the genre came up as “children’s musicâ€, but when you think about it, it’s not too far from the truth. While it may be a patronising and generalised description, it accurately captures the accessibility, catchiness, simplicity and overall joyfulness of [...]
