I've always liked the Cribs , their self titled debut was an album I found myself listening to quite a bit back in 2004. While their three piece indie rock act was not exactly exploring new sonic territory, they were good song writers, capable of penning incredibly catchy tunes that focused on easy to digest lyrics layered over guitar driven rock music. I really dug tracks like You Were Always The One, Direction, Baby Don't Sweat and You're Gonna Lose Us . Since those days, they have had some big hits ( Hey Scenesters ), added [...]

When a band with an established niche releases an album after a six-year hiatus, it's always a bit risky. Should the record cater to fans or try to attract new followers? British indie-pop rockers Comet Gain likely faced this question with their latest release, 2011's Howl of the Lonely Crowd on Fortuna Pop! label. The album's success is relative; for fans, Howl of the Lonely Crowd delivers a decently satisfactory crop of new tracks still infused with much of the band's original energy. However, the album is unlikely to [...]

In this edition: Art Imperial's "Cult of Love", streams from the interwebs, and VIDEOS! Art Imperial - "Cult of Love" Classic sounds fly off Cult of Love , the follow up release to Art Imperial 's notable Surf Suburban EP. Equal parts dream pop and surf rock, Imperial's latest album keeps it light and accessible, making it immensely enjoyable. While Cult of Love stays within the neo-surf genre, there are elements of Motown ("Jesus in the Morning"), indie [...]

'Come On, Be a No-One' is the new one (no pun intended) from Wakefield's Cribs , the first single for the Jarman Brothers' next album, 'In the Belly of the Brazen Bull' (out on the 7th of May on Wichita). This song will be released on the 16th of April and the video, Ryan Jarman's Darth Vader haircut nonwithstanding, shows the boys in their natural habitat. The sound is back to basics: monster guitar and anthemic lyrics. Sounds fab. Like this? You can grab a free download of 'Chi-Town' [...]

"I'm looking for something that'll… break through. You know?" James Woods' Max Renn yearns in David Cronenberg's 1983 cult classic Videodrome . Oh, how things have changed. In today's day and age, we've already drowned in media. It's swallowed us. We're nothing but a bubble amidst one infinite, engulfing abyss. Intimidated? You should be. With each passing second, you're losing opportunities to take advantage of a culture that's moving ahead and at an exhausting rate. You could very well be alone… left behind… abandoned. Terrified yet? Yes? Well, that's more like it. -Michael Roffman [...]

Frank Yang What day was this? Friday? Only? If one thing was becoming clear to me as my eighth SXSW ploughed forwards, it was that I was not as young as I once was and the physical grind of the festival was taking more of a toll than it had in years past - even with the previous night's itinerary consisting only of sitting in a padded chair for four hours, standing in line for 90 minutes and then sitting cross-legged in a church for a bit. Hardly a triathlon. [...]

The Cribs have an old school quality to their sound, so even though their latest video for "Come On, Be A No-One" is as straight-forward as music videos get, it also seems to just make sense. Shots of the band throwing some badass concerts, the crowd frantic with excitement, and behind-the-scene moments really round up that classic feel nicely as it's set to the song. "Come On, Be A No-One" is a cut off of The Cribs' most recent record, In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull , due May 8th.

The Cribs keep it simple in the music video for "Come On, Be A No-One" , interspersing behind-the-scenes shots between rowdy performance footage. It may be a simple concept, but this effort will undoubtedly turn a plethora of desks into personalized mini-mosh pits. Watch it below. The band's latest album, In the Belly of the Brazen Bull , hits stores on May 8th via Wichita Recordings.
