The Cribs release their fifth album, 'In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull' on Monday (7th May), the record having been recorded with super-producer types Dave Fridmann and Steve Albini. With nothing but the weekend standing in between us and the official release of The Cribs ' fifth studio album, the anticipation was clearly getting too much for the good folks over at the Hype Machine , so now  In the Belly of the Brazen Bull is available to stream in its entirety. For their new album In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull , Brit-rock brother band no longer had the services of legendary guitar hero Johnny Marr at their disposal. They did, however, have some other big-name help, enlisting two of the most important producers in indie rock history. The band recorded part of the album with Flaming Lip/Mercury Rev producer Dave Fridmann and another part with veteran face-scraper Steve Albini. In the Belly of the Brazen Bull is The Cribs' fifth studio album, with a release date of 15 May 2012. The Cribs announced the album title and track-listing on 14 February 2012, along with several UK and North American tour dates in support of it. The album was recorded at Tarbox Road in New York with Dave Fridmann, London’s Abbey Road, and Chicago's Electrical Audio with Steve Albini. Is it just me who actually liked Ignore the Ignorant ? I'm asking this as a serious question - I can think of nobody else I know who enjoyed that album. They give various reasons for their dislike of it: "It didn't sound like The Cribs!"; "Johnny Marr ruined it!";"It didn't work as an album!" Personally, I think they're wrong on all three counts, but then again, it did feature my absolute favourite song out of all their catalogue ( City of Bugs ) - well, at least it did until now. London-based Black Manila cite hardcore early garage, specifically The Pretty Things, as a major influence, but "Fiasco" touches on ferocious art-rock and sneering punk as well. Over repetitively hypnotic guitar strums, nasally excitement from the vocals gives a foreboding sense of a big chorus. The verses' simplicity suggests it on its own, so when the chorus does arrive in its full grace - and the stop-start pattern of the screeching guitars descends into a dramatic murmur - the listener is fully prepared

Leeds based This Many Boyfriends are releasing a new Ryan Jarman (The Cribs) produced single of their song "(I Should Be A) Communist". The tune has a catchy melody and carefree swing reminiscent of The Smiths but with a grungier lo-fi dynamic that plays to the new generation of indie rock disenfranchised. Plus "Commie" comes in towe with a pretty sweet video that stars a costumed bear attacking the band as they pretend to rock out in the park.
