Brooklyn’s own Crinkles shares the video + download for their organ ballad “Elevator”, the opening track to their debut long-player Leader Loss due 3/27. For the video, director Alexander lezzi... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.

It seems like anything shot in Super 8 format becomes instantly interesting, as if it was a projection of somebody's memories, rather than just a primitive recording of real events. I guess the 8mm film's approximation and lack of definition makes these videos look more like dreams or decaying memories than to real life... The format works well with Brooklyn's own Crinkles , whose music is blurry, sleepy and undefined - see their new video for the track "Elevator" below. Don't miss them live at Glasslands on March 28 and at Shea Stadium on April 7.

It's not often that I'll go out of my way to endorse close-up shots of kids getting bruised, maimed, lacerated or otherwise impaired. But somehow, the swaying croon of Crinkles frontmen Jonathan and Nicholas Campolo makes it all okay. Indeed, the video for Crinkles' "Elevator" is a 4-minute treasure of vintage found-footage; dabbling in analog psychedelia on the visual end of things, whilst sonically adhering to a quietly-wrought drapery of woozy vocals and lo-fi arrangement. Originally formed in Burlington VT, the brothers Campolo together with lead-guitarist Daniel Crosby and drummer Andrew Chugg relocated the band to [...]

Chill dronologists Crinkles have chosen to release their EP Italian Ice in the dead of winter 9one year ago). Strangely enough, the EP channels neither summer nor winter, but rather the crisp air of early fall... where, if there were actually trees in my neighborhood, there would be crunchy (crinkly!) leaves upon which to tread. Influenced by Brian Jonestown Massacre and contemporary of Ducktails, Crinkles have a smooth, albeit unpolished approach to this mellow, lo-fi psych-pop genre commonly referred to as "chill wave". Their take on it is characterized by more complexity in the arrangement department and [...]

Captured Tracks lady Katie Garcia and Beach Fossils' Dustin Payseur were on guard at the DJ booth all night while the party got a particularly strong warm-up from Ex Cops and Crinkles . Captured Tracks label [...]

Inspired by the recent preponderance of low-fi & tape-recorded pop, Crinkles folds the warmth of layered guitars together with meandering vocal harmonies to create its nu-Americana, or “empty... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.
It's rather fitting that upstart band Crinkles would choose to name themselves after a chocolaty treat. If you really think about it, cookies are the true class of sweets, goodies that offer maximum pleasantness with that first joyous bite. The same can be said for the band’s lo-fi new-Americana sound. In the end, though, the band's latest release, the Know Nothing EP, is much closer to cookies in a less appealing way: After gorging yourself, you're left feeling full of something without much substance to it. Not every morsel the band offers up will [...]
