"Academia is one huge circle jerk. All the sequestered people desperately defending the one good idea they have had in their lives." Editor's Note: Hell-o my favorite children. It has been a while since I have been here. I would give out the usual apologies, but it's summer and I have a somewhat semi-charmed, semi-interesting life. I have been on the road here the last few months. All over the great state of Texas. It's called the "Fuck you" state for a reason. Kidding! But you certainly can fuck off in Texas. But, it's [...]

We don't talk about sports on this site, and for good reason. But this post title is true. Although I must root for the "home team" today as me, brother, and sister are headed to the 7:05 game against the Astros. (bday present from sister to brother) So we compiled a list of sporting themed songs with a bit of a quip for each one. It made sense when we started this last night, and now, it's just gone all wiley out of control. But you're still getting good tunes, [...]

(via lastnightsparty ) crystalpalace are relatively new to me, actually, they're completely new to me. My inbox was playing some of their stuff and it sounded real good. I'm trying to think of who CP reminds me of, but for some reason Crystal Method and Digital Assassins are coming to mind; I don't know. Crystalpalace's style ranges from some killer chill-out stuff with Miles Davis on the horn to stuff that I would compare to a slower, deeper Digital Assassins . crystalpalace love: Dollar Dub (Spacek Remix) [...]

Salme Dahlstrom is an electronica artist hailing from New York, New York with an affinity for the production style of 90's big beat acts like The Crystal Method and Fatboy Slim. As such, she is a woman in touch with the basis of my musical taste (gotta love being the only kid in 7th grade listening to The Crystal Method). The accents and production touches are pure fun. From piano chord breakdowns to ultra distorted ping grooves, you'll feel like you've been transported back to the late 90's and lead to all the best clubs by a flaxen haired vixen [...]

Having lived my entire life on the east coast of the U.S. and briefly in Europe, the concept of California and the west coast was always an imagined, distant place for me. Eventually I'd like to make it out there, maybe spend a few years in San Francisco, experience some of that laid back attitude you hear so much about. Anyway, these artists and songs, all from the Golden state, represent collectively the California consciousness. For me, as an outsider to this culture, it gives me an idea of the range and energy inherent in all the different genres of music [...]

The folks at Digidesign are giving folks the chance to remix The Crystal Method . Four remix finalists as selected by fans will move on to the final judging by TCM themselves. In my grand tradition of hyping artists shortly after they've departed our fine shores (see Metric, Alex ), Koma & Bones were busy tearing Australia up through the month of February with nary a peep to be heard from this fine blog. My deepest apologies K&B. Thing is, they'd kinda dropped off my radar for a bit there - possibly unfair given how long they've been setting the standards of the tech-funk sound. K&B have been kicking around around the breaks scene since 2001, which makes them positively Methuselah -esque in blog terms. 2001. Jesus. I [...]
New day, new logo. I think this one might be less hated by all my friends and family. Let's celebrate the once-again redone logo with gratuitous remixes and gratuitous Russian lesbians (that's how I celebrate everything). t.A.T.u All The Things She Said (Extension 119 Club Vocal) All The Things She Said (MARK's Buzzin Mix) Not Gonna Get Us (Extension 119 Club Vocal) Not Gonna Get Us (Larry Tee Electroclash Mix) Not Gonna Get Us (Richard Morel's [...]

Believe it or not, there was a time in my life when everything just felt right. It was a time of great happiness, perhaps unparalleled in my personal history. At moments of great distress I like to close my eyes and reflect on those joyous nights. If I focus hard enough, I can recall the taste of bakery-fresh, multi-colored sprinkles cookies and Pepsi, the smell of Glade vanilla-scented candles, and the chills that ran down my spine as I rounded dimly-lit corners or proceeded through teleporters. I speak, of course, about the countless nights my friend Matt and I spent [...]
14ème opus de la série des Vous y êtes !* playlists, petit voyage dans le temps pas si récent. Des nouveautés, des choses dont tout le monde parlent, mais que du gros son comme à mon habitude. /////// (more...) playlist , Vous y êtes !* Playlist #14
The next two weeks are going to be really busy for me, as I'm working every day. I usually only work one or two days a week, so this is going to be a big switch. I'm actually really looking forward to it. You all know how much I love my job and I can certainly use the money as well, so it's a win-win situation. The thing is, and there's always a thing, isn't there? It will probably cut into my blogging time. So what I might [...]
I knew that it would happen at some point, but I didn't figure that it would be at Vision. I guess the largest nightclub in the city is probably the best venue for one of the largest up-and-coming acts in the world. MSTRKRFT is set to land tomorrow with LA Riots, The Bloody Beetroots & [...]

Once every one/two weeks I shall post an eclectic 'pelski's playlist': a selection of currently certified tracks im particularly enjoying. They are not mixed together; merely a great selection of individual tracks for your rapacious consumption. They will all be relatively recent releases, with the exception of one or two (for instance, in this playlist I have snuck The Crystal Methods' 'American Way' in at the end): 1. Prinzhorn Dance School - You Are The [...]

This is (hopefully) the last entry in my toothache series of posts, and I had anticipated a more upbeat conclusion to things. I even had the perfect song picked out to accompany today's entry: The Brady Bunch - It's a Sunshine Day (from The Kids from the Brady Bunch , 1972) - I know my affection for gooey, sugary things got me into this situation in the first place, but still... But that decision was made yesterday afternoon, while my face was numbed into quietude by a local [...]
