These are the sort of weeks I love. Do you notice more than five groups below? Did you listen to the mp3s from the relative unknowns? I'm a bit giddy for all of us. To start, Facts on File (shown above) arrive with their self-titled sophomore album. The California crew has become somewhat of a mainstay on the West Coast, but with garage rock like "How Will We Get Along", expect them to show up soon on stage with some of your tour-friendly groups. Fixers provide some UK loving, courtesy of [...]

The Dandys sober up for their latest (or at least pretend to), which isn't necessarily a good thing. There's a song called "16 Tons" on the Dandy Warhols' newest album that you should know about. Yes, it's the Merle Travis coal-mining tale, covered prolifically by so many artists, but never by any so outwardly insincere as the Portland power-poppers. The Dandys' probably don't have much in their charmed lives resembling the hardships endured by the song's poor white Appalachian laborers, but instead of checking their privilege, they flaunt it: a filthy bari sax...

The Dandy Warhols' latest album, This Machine, has been called the band's goth-iest by their friends and the grungiest by band front man Courtney Taylor-Taylor. Recently, Consequence of Sound spoke with Taylor-Taylor about the group's eighth album, working with David J of Love and Rockets, and what it means to have songs on the album written entirely by someone other than himself. You've described your new album, This Machine , as "stripped-down and extremely guitar-centric," but you've also described it as "woody." What did you mean by that? [...]

In the wake of Record Store Day, it seems that there's another pretty big week of new releases to close out the month of April. Both Patton Oswalt and Paul F. Thompkins have new DVDs courtesy of Comedy Central, Ryan Adams and LP both have live sessions out, and electro clash remnants Soviet release "Life Begins at Retwirement" (pictured). Of course, that's just the start of things with new records from The Maccabees , The Dandy Warhols , and Toro Y Moi as well. We possibly [...]
The Dandy Warhols have been around since 1994. Despite closing in on their twentieth year as a band, I feel that the band has been able to continually innovate. The 11 tracks on This Machine allow the band to continue with the sound that has been such a hallmark, but adds considerably to the [...]

ARTIST: The Dandy Warhols - [Album] with free mp3 downloads for 'Sad Vacation' and 'Well They're Gone' from This Machine by The Dandy Warhols DATE: 04-21-12 REVIEW BY: Bill Adams Maybe more than any other band in history, The Dandy Warhols have personified the theory (most often upheld by cooler-than-thou hipster/scenester trash) that indie rock bands are at their best when they're the private pleasure of a small group of people. Anyone who questions he legitimacy of that statement need only look at the [...]
