Last year we talked about our adoration for Sea Pinks and their record Dead Seas , which you need to get if you haven't. But, I'm here to talk about a new track, sort of; this song, along with several others will comprise The Flip Side cassette being released by the Belfast group next week; it's basically a collection of B-Sides and demos since the band's incarnation. Every time I listen to this song, I can't help but wonder why on Earth it [...]

The sorrow of note came from the loss to a drug overdose of Jeremiah's brother who was also the best friend of Schultz. Writing songs together in New York, the pair moved to Colorado and expanded their sound, smoothing some of their frayed edges with the addition of classically trained cellist -- and now multi-instrumentalist -- Pekarek. The resulting self titled debut (April 3, [...]

Pictured: Pelican Live at the Scion Rock Fest (Skully's) Lateness disclosure: I didn't wanna mess with Texas O.K, O.K I think I'm finally over that saddy sad seasonal affective disorder nonsense and I'm super stoked for life all over again (oh man) and boy howdy, the Scion Rock Fest was the bee's knees AND the cat's pajamas no shit. I've also been speaking more freely and talking to anyone who will listen. It's basically like listening to a live stream of my brain (stuttering=buffering). Seriously though, [...]

Album artwork by Mr. Clinton Reno MP3: Bookmobile - Weekends of our Youth MP3: Ben Schwabe - Crystal Branches First a little disclosure right upfront- I'm an official part of the Columbus Music Co-op volunteer machine, so this is a project which is near to my heart. The Flaming Lips@LC Oh hey, remember this thingie? I know, it's been a minute. Don't wanna hear it. I bet you can only imagine that a ton of cool shit has happened since we last got up. For example, a weekend camping excursion with a bunch of dudes, guns and fireworks( in the streets ) O.K. enough will the small talk. Oh man where do I even start, the older I get the less I remember. In this issue of "How long is Robert Duffy gonna keep letting that jackass write this crap", I [...]

The Silent Ballet: Volume 8 Spring 2008 After several compilations romping through various related fields, Volume VIII returns to what this compilation series began with in Volume I, bringing the post-rock hits. The current edition brings together tracks from some current albums we're enjoying at the TSB headquarters and ones that should be making some huge waves [...]

Why have I not heard of Deadsea until now? Why is this band not on the cover of every metal magazine? Why aren't hipsters hyping this to high heaven? Instead, they're still buying Mastodon records. Nothing against that band, but Intronaut is better. Now come Deadsea, elbowing those bands the fuck out of the way. Most other bands should just give up now. I'm serious. I would gladly trade away entire metal subgenres for Deadsea. Coming Home Northwitch Like Mastodon [...]
