We've been big fans of KRL for a while now, from first hearing his fantastic remix of J Phlip's Fever, to his unbelievably amazing mixtape for Corsica Studios night Tief (also another WANARB favourite). His remix of Autodeep - Gonna Make you Mine was stuck in our head for months upon end. We've finally managed to pin down the elusive and enigmatic man down for a chat and what better time for it, as Tief takes over Room 2 at Fabric for the bank holiday edition of regular Sunday night WetYourSelf ... Motivator // Decay Oh there is nothing worse than an ambiguous release date. Such is the nature of the beast with the current music scene, though. When an artist says something like "album will be soon" it is absolute torture. Just tell me! Otherwise I will be forced to check your site every few days to see if it dropped. Well, that was the case with Ottawa hardcore punk band Motivator . Last month these dudes put up the artwork for their upcoming cassette Decay with a message. "Coming very soon" they said. [...]

ACT! - like, ...you know? ;-) (Part 1) Today I proudly present you a shorttime collaboration between PROPAGANDA vocalist, CLAUDIA BRÜCKEN and cult favourite electro pioneer THOMAS LEER. The pair released a handful of smart singles and one album before deciding to cut and run. Satirizing the glitz and indulgence of the entertainment industry, the first release came at a time when perhaps the public had grown weary of the promotional style of ZTT and just didn't 'buy' it. Ultimately, the duo suffered the cynicism of the industry they lampooned. Text source: Discogs Webpage . [...]

Park The Van, 2011 Perhaps the most beautiful thing about Bloom And Decay , New Orleans stewards of shimmering astro-pop Giant Cloud's semi-posthumous final album, is how instantly comfortable it feels even upon first listen. With only 20102s delightful - but tiny - Old Books EP available for public consumption as the band relentlessly toured until their mid-2011 breakup, the songs that make up Giant Cloud's first (and last) full-length album have been integral parts of the band's live set for over a year. But even [...]

Usually it's enough to share single sound from a new E.P, however KRL 's forthcoming debut full four piece in December deserves a double. These two top tracks offer varying directions with a dash of what has become a familiar elements. Decay is a blissful beauty with love filled vocals floating you into a warm wonderland. Deep Down delivers a slightly grittier sound with a low pitched vocal sample and dark chords, which later builds with an acid edge. The remaining tracks are sample full supers, all in all, a cracking collection. KRL - Decay [...]

After hearing about this record just a few days ago from a good mate, and in anticipation of Wolf Music's first visit down under. You can understand my excitement to hear the first artist EP from KRL. Exploring the whole record will unveil human blemishes and characteristics, setting it apart from the countless tracks just waiting to sit a top of a garbage pile in a month. Not KRL. I have a feeling this will be a milestone record for the already incredible Wolf Music. It's a showcase of their stables finest talent, experimenting with different sounds and [...]

It's only 14 minutes long, but you'll be hard pressed to find a more brutal and nihilistic experience in 2011. What am I talking about? The Soft Moon , and their appropriately-named new EP Total Deca y which mines a rich vein of morbid post-punk and steely industrial rock. Although in the live arena The Soft Moon has three members, the recorded music is the work of San Franciscan Luis Vasquez alone. Following on from last year's self titled debut full-length, the songs on this EP are horribly fascinating works of art, not so [...]

I've got a soft spot for The Soft Moon . I accidentally saw then play live last May at Brighton's Great Escape. I had intended to go and see Suuns and The Soft Moon were appropriately scheduled beforehand. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the band turned out to be my favourite 'discovery' of the weekend. They've kept quite a low profile over the summer and I was eager to hear more from them, therefore when I saw the opportunity arise to review their new EP, Total Decay , I naturally jumped at the chance. What better sort of grownup Halloween activity is there than to go see a band as spooky as The Soft Moon on Halloween? They're playing tonight to celebrate not only the holiday, but the band's newest Total Decay EP (out on Captured Tracks ). The Bay Bridged caught up with Luis Vasquez to see in what direction the project is going with the latest release. See The Soft Moon tonight at the Independent with LED ER EST and Chelsea Wolfe - tickets are still available [...]

Happy Halloween! Today's day of spookiness doubles as the EP release of The Soft Moon 's Total Decay , which is 15 minutes of unrelenting chill and gothy goodness. The video for title track "Total Decay" is as granite as its sound, outlining Luis Vasquez in a ghostly frame. Download the MP3 here and stream the EP here . Technorati Tags: The Soft Moon
So many apologies for the lack of updates this week. Thursday night was trivia night and I drank way too much for my own good. According to my trivia teammates I was shouting at the end of the night for the remainder of whatever bottle we were being poured shots from all night. I guess [...]
Didn't think I'd be around to drop a pre-Halloween post? You were wrong! Along with A$AP Rocky's highly anticipated LIVELOVEA$AP , tomorrow will also see the release of SF-based experimental outfit The Soft Moon's new Total Decay EP, which you can preview in its entirety over at Spin. The band also released a video for the EP's title track on Friday, which does an excellent job of echoing the dank, industrial style of the song, a path which the band seems to be taking further and further to even more pleasurable results. The Soft Moon is in [...]

The Soft Moon 's new four-song EP, Total Decay , is available on Halloween through Captured Tracks . And although the title track was revealed several weeks ago, we've finally got a video that embraces the dark and painful unknown. Apart from playing some seriously scary Halloween records to scare the shit out of trick-or-treaters on Monday night, I may just turn off all the lights and blast this record for two hours straight. Actually, I hope [...]
The video for the Soft Moon's excellent " Total Decay " pins Luis Vasquez's minimalist visual aesthetic to his spectral, Factory-styled post-punk clamor. It's clenched up with claustrophobic tension and yet echoes with space and chilly breath, which is a neat trick. The video is black and white and rippling with ghoulish traces of faces and other such business, and as such it should be projected on a loop at your goth-inspired Halloween party this weekend.
