The soundtrack to The Hunger Games movie isn't out until March 20th, but the hype surrounding its release is growing exponentially. Colin Meloy, frontman for indie folk-rock group, The Decemberists, released his debut novel last year.  It is the first book in his Wildwood Trilogy that he has created with the mother of his child, award-winning illustrator Carson Ellis.  It is a very impressive, if somewhat predictable, first novel from an artist who has already made his name as a musician first. Meloy created a new and exciting world with Wildwood, one that I will be happy to venture through again. I could do without the whole "machines are bad/nature is good" lesson that was thrown in there a couple times. [...]

So, apparently The Hunger Games is supposed to be the next teen film sensation. I haven't read the books, but the film series is getting lots of attention. Even if the film sucks, at the very least there are some decent songs to come out of it. The Hunger Games has pulled in an interesting group of musicians to record songs for their soundtrack including The Low Anthem, Neko Case and, erm, Taylor Swift. Two of the most high profile songs on there, as far as we're concerned anyway, are from The Decemberists and Arcade Fire. New material from The Decemberists . "One Engine" is the group's contribution to the  soundtrack for the new flick Hunger Games . The soundtrack has quite a nice little collection of folk rockers with Glen Hansard, Arcade Fire, The Carolina Chocolate Drops, The Civil Wars, Neko Case, and Taylor Swift all providing tracks. Even Kid Cudi's got a track, but I suppose that's not so strange seeing as he's doing the whole rock n roll thing now.
