This year's top album list pretty much assembled itself throughout the year. The top 4 in particular are albums I expect to continue to listening to over and over for years to come. Click on the album titles to read the full reviews, purchase the albums, and, in some cases, download mp3s… Muruch's Top 25 [...]

A true sin in this world is ignoring art. But we do. Our world works too fast. Our eyes have too big of stomachs. We digest without reflecting. We rely on our subconscience to dig deeper. This is life in the modern world. Our main priority: time. There is no greater asset. Though, here's a piece of irony: A real piece of art is a physical representation of time. So, what's our excuse? Don't worry, you don't have to answer. Just an introduction, really. Here's the real meat: A couple years ago, I tapped my closest friend Cap [...]

By: David Schultz 30. The Occupy Wall Street "Concerts" This fall, New York City's Zuccotti Park became the literal and spiritual home base for the Occupy Wall Street movement. The presence of the protesters, their message and goals as well as their modus operandi sparked significant debate and the vociferous nature of the movement and reaction from various law enforcement agencies drew
The Decemberists have just issued an EP of b-sides from their breakout recording, The King Is Dead. That album made it on many Top 10 lists this year...

You know the drill. Here are my favourite songs from the past year...#11-20. 20. San Cisco - Golden Revolver Another band that came to me in an email. As soon as I say they were from Australia I was instantly hovering over the trash button but I must have been in a good mood because instead of clicking on the garbage can, I clicked on their bandcamp link. What I found was this beauty. Golden Revolver has been [...]

Divertitevi. [...]

[There's plenty of great Christmas songs out there, but most suffer terribly from over-exposure. To remedy that, EbM presents a selection of alternative Christmas songs .] There are few things on this earth worse than John Denver, and while this song of his verges on being an out-and-out comedy number (with a markedly unfunny subject matter) the Decemberists ' usual textural panache lifts their version far above its humble origins. The Decemberists - Please Daddy (Don't Get Drunk This Christmas)

Zola Jesus Editor's Note: I don't do "Best of" or "Top" lists, but I do like things ... as hard as it might seem to believe. I'm going to post a few editorials between now and the end of the year about the various things I've liked about 2011. It seems that every year I have less time to listen to music than the year before. This year proved to be no different. With that said, I did find time during the last 11.5 months to listen to some wonderful [...]
10- R.E.M. - Collapse into now " I'll give it one more time, I'll show the kids how to do it fine ". E assim eles fizeram. Collapse into now é a última lição do R.E.M. Toda a carreira do R.E.M. é revisitada, de alguma maneira, em [...]

1 Band of Holy Joy How To Kill A Butterfly Wonderfully crafted the songs preach with a desolate beauty leaving behind plenty of food-for-thought I've listened and enjoyed some great music this year but none better than this album from Band Of Holy Joy which just stopped me in my tracks, but it doesn't end with the musical brilliance as the CD release is packaged beautifully too in a book format with wonderful original art work by Inga Tillere , for your chance [...]

(photo by cubagallery ) These are 50 tracks that defined 2011 for us, presented in highly unscientific ordered list form, with Matt's songs marked with a "-MG" and my choices with a "-TJ" next to them. To better spread the love, there's only one song per artist. Click the links next to the track to download / listen to the song and go to our Spotify Playlist to hear them all. Enjoy y'all! 50. Baltimore - Every couple of years, like slides in a powerpoint presentation, I like to change the backdrop. But I have always struggled with first years. By that I refer to my relationships with changes in scenery rather than with hormone-effervescing fresh-women (to be politically correct as George Carlin suggested). I am constantly, and embarrassingly, surprised each time how woefully unprepared I still am. Incidentally, 2011 has also been a tumultuous year on many fronts. So with everything concerned, I present to you my Pests vs. Bests of 2011 - both bad and good things that have been on my mind [...]
We can't believe that 2011 has come and is nearly gone. So much music was put out this year and after an internal food fight, near stabbing and finally put to a vote - we give you this list.

Music makes me happy. 2011 made me very happy - SO MUCH good music. Here are ten, not necessarily in order, albums I loved this year. I'm still doing it in reverse order though, because it's my list, and I want to. 10. American Nomad - Apache Relay American Nomad sounds like a warm summer afternoon. It's all happy jangly guitars, nice harmonies, and underpinned by a drive to get on the road and get lost. It's constantly listenable and I love it. They sit [...]

What a great, interesting year for music consumption. Spotify gave me the ability to discover tons of new music and keep up with the current scene, while iTunes Match allowed me to rediscover music that was collecting dust on my disconnected external hard drive. My favorite albums of 2011 are filled with the usual suspects that I've come to love over the years (Wilco, The Decemberists), but this year, more than ever, are a bunch of bands that are completely new to me. Here's a list, complete with MP3s, streams, videos, and whatever relevant links I could put [...]

Ward - "Chinese Translation".mp3 Hmm... OK, well other than Adam Sandler's dated music all I could [...]
