Detroit's Dimes Make Dollars combine the sleaze and sexual inclination of The Weeknd with the dubstep inspired beats of James Blake . Whilst the production on the self-titled debut track may leave more to be desired, the basic elements for a fantastic R'n'B track are all there. Timing, seduction, lust and a slickly refined beat, all combining to make this one hell of an exciting first appearance from Dimes Make Dollars . Check out the self-titled track below.
Not sure what's iller, the fact that homey took it back to Dummy -era Portishead , or honeydip in her undies.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't using this as an excuse to post a picture of Amber Rose . I sweat her. She just has a very unique look... and a fatty. Anyways, the Hip-Hop Internets exploded when they heard the venom she spewed about Funkmaster Flex , but when I heard her on Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg , I was really surprised. I shouldn't have been, but this was one of the few times I've heard her personality and whatnot. Philly stand up. But yeah, she has a [...]

A few years ago, I began working in radio and figured out that I could occasionally get my grubby little hands on a pair of free concert tickets. As a fan of late '60s/early '70s piano pop ( Carole King is my idol), one of the first shows I elected to see was Todd Rundgren at the Aladdin Theater. (What? Some lucky winner didn't pick up his Todd Rundgren tickets? ) My friend Jennie and I got to the show early and waltzed right up to the stage, placing our hands on [...]

Apparently, I'm not the first to fall for The Dimes and the odds that I'll be the last are slim. When a band makes such lighthearted, happiness-inducing folk pop like this it's hard to imagine they won't have many friends... The Dimes (of Boston, they who write songs of Paul Revere and address them to Sarah Palin) brag of making folk pop you can revel in and while a braggart would normally be off-putting, that just isn't so when they speak the truth. The King Can Drink... [...]

I don't mess with Chris Brown , but his girlfriend Karrueche looks VERY nice in this recent 1TWO "Made You Look" photoshoot (which also features Aurielle Rousanville ). I mess with 1TWO 's designs - including this "My Favorite Rappers Are Dead" tee . Check 'em out !

Back in March John Congleton told DC9 about a new project, Nighty Nite, that he was working on with his Paper Chase bandmate Jason Garner on drums, as well as members of Austin's Shearwater and New York's Slow Six. He also hinted at a then-still-in-process EP that at the time had no release date. If Nighty Nite's Soundcloud page is to believe, that album looks like it will come out June 21st. We shall see. Until then check out the band's first MP3 offering, "Dimes in Their Dimples," which is admittedly pretty Paper Chase-esque. [...]
Video: Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner Unveils Flock of Dimes Solo Project Between Wye Oak tours with drummer Andy Stack recently, frontwoman Jenn Wasner quickly penned five songs ahead of a solo house show. Billed as a self-described "vanity project" dubbed Flock of Dimes, the result includes her "first attempts at drum programming" and compositions "in one particular guitar tuning that I'm not really comfortable in," she told Bmore Musically Informed . Above, you can watch her unveil a particularly soulful FoD tune (quite a change of pace from last month's Danzig cover [...]

Before Wye Oak set out on their most recent national tour in support of Civilian, singer and guitarist Jenn Wasner told me she had some recordings in the works for her new solo project. A week later while out on the road, Jenn passed along "Prison Bride". Flock of Dimes - Prison Bride by friendsrecords "Prison Bride" is the debut track from Flock of Dimes, and was recorded at Chris Freeland's Beat Babies studio just outside of Baltimore. This instant-classic...
