I've been meaning to write something suitably effusive on grubby Ontario trio The Dirty Nil for quite some while now and even though they don't quite make my top three for dirty somethings (that'll be the 'Projectors, the 'Three, and the 'Beaches in that very particular order) their latest, Zombie Eyed, is well worth a listen in on. I love these motherfuckers so much I gave them their very own Berkeley Place tag. And normally, I post their songs before I even hear them. But this time I listened first. Zombie Eyed is another blazing, screaming punk rock song. It's what they do best. No, it's not a stretch, but who needs to stretch when you can bang out a song that kicks ass? And it's free.

Zombie Eyed by The Dirty NIl A bit of a grunge-inspired throwback from the guys in The Dirty Nil on "Zombie Eyed," which is a track that comes off the band's new split with Northern Primitive. Grab one of the 300 copies here . I'm really digging the hell out of this track. The guitars blare, and the melodic leads are absolutely killer. The chorus is catchy as hell, too. It perfectly personifies that happy middle ground between aggressive and downright catchy that so many bands in the 90s championed.
